After watching a programme, it featured a couple who bought their house 400 yards away from a land-fill site.

It was:

- a new-build property (late 1990s by the look of it).
- Five minutes away from the city centre

Which area is this house in? Anyone any ideas?

I live just 2 roads down from those houses,

i saw a programme where a couple bought a house there without even viewing it and they came from huddersfield (i think) was it the same programme ??

I hate the tip we moved here in 2000 and for the first year it was fine but then if the weather was very hot or very wet it STUNK ....

some of the odour controls broke down (like air freshners), and ever since then weve had nowt but trouble ......a batch of batteries expolded in the middle of the night, and ive had nasal problems since moving here, and there has been proof that its damaging to health but the council wont do owt about it

...think there getting a big back hander cause things are being dumped there from london and birmingham (why dont they want it on there own dooorstep!!!) , fly ash i think, and some other hazadous stuff...i know someone who works there and they said it shouldnt be dumped here .

Yes I saw the repeat tonight on Discovery - what a load of tosh.

"We can sell out house blah blah blah" These houses have screamed up in value and whenever one comes on the market they are up for a matter of weeks before being sold.

The woman on the show was hounded by the rest of the estate as she blew it all out of proportion - I even emailed Channel 4 to give em a rollocking for making this program whilst ignoring all the sold signs.

3 years on we've made 120k - on paper that is.

See my previous posts on the landfill re any health effects.
