Finally met swimmingcats on Saturday and hilariously, without too much discussion, we are now sharing as a very kind man came with a petrol powered bush cutter so we're straight in!

There we were there yesterday clearing the plot with his help and blimey it is a LOT of work!

My question is - what do I do regarding sharing - I gather there is no 'legal' way of doing it with the council but are there any ideas out there of how I can protect my lotty partner ... I know I am totally trustworthy .. so do I just leave it at that? Or is there an agreement we can draw up.

Thanks in advance!

Sam,

As you say there is no way to do this through the current system. If your allotment partner wants a plot to themselves then they should put their name down on the list for a new plot. If they want to share long term then they'll really just have to trust that you'll allow them to continue sharing. If you decide to give up at any point and your partner wants to take it on then they go on the list, wait till they're at the top and then you inform the office that you'd like it to go to them. Can't see any other way within the current system. Works provided everyone is reasonable and people don't fall out... If only.

Glad to see you're finally down there and working the plot. Don't forget the AGM this Sunday, 11.45 @ the society hut.
