My Mum was walking her dog along the canal last week, when she saw a cardboard box left on a bench. Looking inside, she found four tiny kittens, so young that their eyes were still closed. Someone had just abandoned them there :(

Mum took them straight to the vet, and the staff there set about trying to keep them alive. Unfortunately, one of the boy kittens didn't make it, but the other three (two male and one female) are doing well, and their eyes are opening. Mum reports that they have gorgeous blue eyes. The vet staff originally thought the kittens were black and white, but now they've realised that two of them have tabby markings.

My sister and brother-in-law will be adopting the girl and one of the boys when they're old enough, and the third kitten also already has a home to go to :)

Awww hopefully a happy ending then but what a stupid thing for somebody to do. God it makes me sick to my stomach when somebody would rather let them die than hand then in to the many, many rescues. Has your mum raised them then? It's a hell of a job all those feeds!

The vet centre is still taking care of them - I don't think my Mum's collie would be too tolerant if it was Mum trying :D

I'm just so glad she found them. It's terrible what some people do, the poor mommy cat must have been traumatised too, having her kittens taken away!

If she sends me any pics, I'll definitely post them.

I know it's awful that they were left poor little things, but it's still better than what happens to many, at least they made sure that they were in a place where they were likely to be found.
Makes you wonder though whether they were actually meant for in the canal and someone couldn't go through with it :(

I thought about that too, but not for long, too disturbing! :( They can't have been there for long. I wondered if the person who put them there had seen or heard Mum and Molly coming and scarpered..
