View Full Version : Good point-and-click adventure games for the PC
Greenback 04-07-2005, 16:22 I'm a bit of an old crusty when it comes to PC games, and love Monkey Island-style puzzle adventures. I've just got one called Syberia (which is excellent by the way) and was wondering if anyone can recommend others of a similar type?

Syberia II
If you like the Monkey Island games you'd like Day of the Tentacle or Sam and Max hit the Road.. You could probably get both in a double pack for about a tenner.
Isn't Myst that kind of game ?

and only a few quid at the minute as a budget re-release.
Damn..I must be an old crusty too!!!!
ok my favorite ones would be
Broken Sword 1 & 2
The Dig
All the Gabial Knight series
Sierra Releases, Space Quest, Shivers etc etc
I'm just thinking here...I have many favorites and the list would be long..last check I had about 200 titles
If you want to play these on XP you might be up against it unless for Lucas Arts games you use SCUMMVM which is a great app to get these working.
Other apps to get past XP are DOS BOX and VM sound.
If you google those names you will get all the goodies and they are free. Also if you look on the SCUMMVM site there are a few games to download that are now free, I know Beneath A Steel Sky is one and Flight Of The Amazon Queen (both worth playing)
Have fun and I hope the info helps you
Greenback 06-07-2005, 10:33 Cheers! Plenty to go at there.
I quite like the look of Journey to the Centre of the Earth, has anyone played that?
I always enjoyed Simon The Sorceror on the Amiga. Was nice.
Skatiechik 06-07-2005, 10:59 These are my favourite types of games :D I very rarely play anthing else on the PC. The only trouble is they are so time consuming.
Grim Fandago is good and so is the Simon the Sourcerer series.
I am still waiting for Lucas Arts to release some more of these types of games.
Does anyone remember Zak McKraken?
What a game that was!!
Thats a good point and clicker right there.
Also my faves are:
Broken Sword
Monkey Island 1/2
Zak McKraken
CSI's
Maniac Mansion
spiffymonkey 07-07-2005, 05:57 Ah, it's like a refreshing blast from the past in here :)
As well as those already mentioned, I liked Discworld and Grim Fandango.
spiffymonkey 07-07-2005, 06:01 You can get ScummVM from here:
http://www.scummvm.org/downloads.php
You get 'Beneath a Steel Sky' and 'Flight of the Amazon Queen' as freebies just for downloading!
Full Throttle
Day Of The Tenticle (aka Maniac Mansion)
Sam and Max
Loom
Grim Fandango
Broken Sword
Monkey Island
Discworld
though not a PAC Adv, Little Big Adventure is like it...
