I have been given permission to construct vehicle access at my property. Was told by council to contact Virgin Media as they "apparently" have some cables in the area and I should warn them before excavating.

Just got off the phone with them and been told they don't know if they have cables in area and its gonna cost me £50 to find out!!

You should find out where liability lies if cables are damaged; I would have thought that the council can't give planning permission unless they themselves check out this kind of thing themselves? Surely there must be plans of the cable system held by the council and Virgin Media.

Seems thy just like ripping us all off my cuurent service with them costs £54 if I was to sign up as a new customer the deal would be £46 how can they have a 2 tier price system. Sky is now looking vert tempting.

All Sky tv companies are a rip off and most programmes are reruns, not worth watching or pay for extra.

go out to the pavement outside your house and look for a triangle shape black lid there might be 2 lids side by side or one lift the lid and see if it looks like the cable is running towards your house

surely your only digging down 6-10 inches at most. Most cables are deeper than 2 feet in the ground. Don't want to put you off or nothing, but i'd be more worried about gas pipes........ON A LIGHTER NOTE.IF IN DOUBT CALL TIME TEAM. :-)

Yep, I called them when Sky One was taken away a couple of years ago and they upgraded me from the small package to the XL one for no extra cost- and now Sky One is back! :D
