Hi,

I've recently put my house on the market, but am not overly impressed with the service from my estate agent (Blundells)

I was wondering which estate agents people have had good experiences with?

Feedback would be appreciated...

Thanks,

I would recommend Haybrooks.

Mortgage advisor who covers Barnsley & Rotherham is great

My experience is that most, if not all, are the kind of people I would care to donate a kidney to :)

Where are you in town?
Some bits lend themselves to private sales more than others.

I would probably say Reeds Rains are one of the least irritating estate agents, others would probably disagree, but I would guess most people here can happily slag off all of the big names in this town.

Funny how there arent many multinationals in Sheffield?
Only local boys who have controlled things and made hay for years and years.

By the way check your contract with Blundells and tell us what clauses you have about sacking them.

And read this, especially the 4th post:

We just sold through Blundells, and I wasn't overly happy with their service either.

ELR strike me as the most consistently pleasant, Saxton Mee don't chase buyers enough and are very pleasant to vendors until it comes to the survey results, and Reed Rains cause bidding wars by deliberately underpricing properties!

Why not sell it yourself?!

We have just had our house valued by Barras Thompson estate agents. They sound pretty good and keep you informed of everything thats going on through the sale. We bought this house through them also and the service was very good. They are based in Eckington and if you decide to go with them they advertise your house in the property guide and also the Eckington Leader which would attract people from further afield. Whatever the property sells for they charge 1% fee.

Why would you use an estate agent these days? Do you really want to give a minimum of 1% plus vat of your property sale to someone for not a lot of work?
In London and other parts of the UK private house sales are common place, why is Sheffield so far behind?
