View Full Version : Please get your cats neutered before it's too late
Already Cat Abuse Treatment Society is overflowing and the kitten season hasn't started in earnest yet.
Simple operation, best for your cat - I could go on but won't.
Please please don't delay.
LitleMermaid 23-04-2009, 13:43 I 100% back you up on this magsie, as everyone knows.I preach preach preach to anyone, whether they want to hear it or not-but sdly, there are some people who are just not interested :(
I'm preachy with that one too and look forward to the day when the services of kitten fosterers like me aren't needed- I'm not holding my breath though.
The irresponsible pet owners won't listen but they expect the rescue centres/fosterers to listen when their pets get pregnant and then do the blackmail thing on them. If you don't take cat and kits then I'll have to have them put to sleep - how often have we heard this one??
The cat from Darnall who Jackie took in after having had 8 litters and now on her 9th is a super little thing, wonderful mother and loves people so much. She is so happy - the female species are just too accommodating.
Thank you LM and M x
angnjosh 23-04-2009, 14:26 next month can't come quick enough to get my male kitty neutered be a happier and safer life for him hopefully a life without fighting or straying away from home and less trips to the vets.. i agree neutering is a must !

I'm completely in agreement regarding neutering (I can think of some humans who'd benefit from this procedure too, come to think of it!).
The beautiful pregnant cat Jackie rescued is absolutely gorgeous, and extremely loving. I was at the Sanctuary after she was rescued and she was purring like a little steam engine, rubbing all around me for rubs and even rubbing her face against mine. I've also seen her two days after she gave birth. She's an amazingly attentive mum and those kitties are in excellent health.
It's just a shame that these cats are put through the repeated stress and physically draining experience of giving birth time, after time, after time, after time...... There's no need as there's an abundance of cats and kittens out there begging for forever homes, and irresponsible owners who are inconsiderate are making the situation worse. Without people like Jackie and other big hearted people, these animals would suffer needlessly or even die. We owe them our thanks xxx
Rainrescue 23-04-2009, 22:19 A friend of mine who runs a rescue - did a fund raising expedition for cat and rabbit neutering.
She approached a vet and asked how much they would charge if they managed to get them 80 male or female cats in for doing. they quoted her £29.00 for either male or female.
She fund raised for £15.00 per cat - and then got people to find the other £15.00 - and made the appointments with the vet.
The vets were pleased because they had 80 appointments and still made a bit of money - and the people were happy - cos no worry of kittens - the cats were happy - well the females certainly were - again no worry of kittens.
Wouldit be worth looking into Magsie before the kitten season starts in earnest?
Maybe look to see if we could get 100 ?
I agree with spaying a neuting but sadly Tawny isn't well enough to be spayed but as she is house cat just now she won't be out and about!!! but I am watching her very carfully to make sure she doesn't escape!
What a great idea Rainrescue. Will get on to it.
Anyone out there think they might have a sympathetic vet who I could approach. I will approach my vet. x

Please try Anneka at Broomhill vets she is a very caring and compassionate lady and already does discounted neutering for Rain Rescue:)
Rainrescue 24-04-2009, 09:41 Broomhill vets have always been really great with us - and now I know that people think this is something we could probably achieve - and want - I will give them a call and hope we can get them to do it.
Thanks daydreamblvr for recommending them too.
Rainrescue 24-04-2009, 13:24 Just spoken to Broomhill and they do reasonable prices already
£31.00 males
£46.00 females
However, I have also been told that the CPL area really good and anyone who is suffering financial hardship - or in a multi-cat household - or has helped a stray or a ferral cat - and can't afford to have it spayed - the CPL will try all they can to help out.
I believe that must be directly to the CPL head Office - maybe people should be going and asking there if they are struggling financially to afford it, but at Broomhill Vets prices - thats not too bad to find for saving the poor cats having lots of kittens.
So - please - I agree with magsie - get neutered!!!
loopylass 24-04-2009, 13:32 I've just taken an injured stray one that I have been looking after in for the chop today. Fingers crossed he won't fall out with me.
Spire vets in chesterfield spey females for £26 not sure how much for toms though.
loopylass 25-04-2009, 16:12 Th stray who I have now called Felix is doing fine and is still friends with me:clap:
angnjosh 19-08-2009, 17:30 Is worth it to know that 12 months down line the gorgoeus kittens you sold are now either on the street pregnant themselves or in a shelter because the novelty wore off ?
Worth thinking about oh apart from about the many more reasons for your own cats safety
