ill try to shorten ,this but basically i am having a nightmare with the ecu/orange light on dashboard. Have broken down, taken it to backstreet garage they cleared faults put in a relay. Light stayed off for 2 days runs ok now its back on ,vauxhall want 50pounds to plug it in but im not conviced they will solve the problem ,any suggestions what to do please .

Do you know how to read your own codes from the engine?

Once you have these codes you can search online and find out what each code means and hopefully identify the problem.

I had a 1.6 Astra several years ago with this problem. The genuine Vauxhall part was a few hundred pounds (£450 IIRC), the compatible one £70 but made the light come on. The garage said that they usually recommend you just take out the bulb!
