I always use key cutters for engraved tags... you can get some really nice, but expensive ones that aren't supposed to wear away but I figure my dogs are more likely to lose them before they rub away so keep it cheap! :lol:

How much are the ones you can currently find? I know that the key cutting place in Hillsborough Morrisons does them for £5. I also found this web site (http://www.pettag.co.uk/index.htm) which does them for £5.86. They are £8.50 from the KC.

£5 is generally the norm from key cutters I think.

Once got a cheaper one from someone at Thoresby market - was just plain silver colour in a dog's head shape but he engraved it with his own handwriting instead of a machine.

Ooh that's VERY Good... I may have to go for that offer... I need new tags and with two tags on each dog and each dog having two different collars, I need about 8 tags all in all! :lol:

That said it's still cheaper for me to just get a plastic one that I can write in myself from my own shop... :lol:

My mum got thier dogs done at hillsborough and its already worn away. Shes only had it on since around xmas!! We did Rockys on that machine at pets at home when we first got him at 8 weeks old. Hes still got the same one now and hes just over 3!! Although we have changed our number so its got the new number stuck over with cellotape! We need a new 1!!! He doesnt wear it in the house just when hes outside and when we are away but i think 3 years is good!!!!

the trophy engravers at crystal peaks market does them for (I think) £3. As if the engraver is in that day though, as they last longer if done by hand than if they put them through the machine to do them

please don't get those cheap coloured aluminium things. The number of dogs I've seen where the details have worn off, which means your dog WON'T be coming home quickly if found!

just bought some form this guy. cheap and extremely quick service. As i geta a new tag everytime they have a new collar or harness i do replace them frequently.

I don't know about the cheapest, but I do know that some realy great ones with deep engraving and engraved collars too if you want them, can be bought online from http://www.bestpetcollars.com You won't find thises in the shops. They do a great variety of shapes and colours with room for all your contact details and more besides, such as I am Chipped or I am spayed. etc. ( to reduce the risk of thieving) or your vets number.

I bought some beautiful ones which are rings of brass engraved around the edge of the ring (with the suspension ring being through the middle of the large brass ring) for Molly a few days ago from Ebay.

They were about £6 for two, which means that she has oodles of contact details on them, and if she manages to lose them it will be because she's lost her whole collar!

I always get mine from ebay! Got some cheap ones for the cats and spent about £8 on an enamel filled pink one for the dog (my OH would not let me have a pink collar on her after 4 months!)!

I always use www.identitag.co.uk They are really clear and don't scratch. My old boy has had the same brass tag for 8 1/2 years and its still as clear as they day I bought it!
