We just bought a couple of laptops and being from the good old glass fronted CRT mob I was wondering...

What is the best way to clean these soft little creatures??

I did a search on google and...well... When I see someone saying to use an abrasive cleaner with amonia!!! I worry, so I thought I'd run it be the good old Sheffield crew

Thanks for your help

I dont mean for dust..more of removing the kids finger prints, as like any other kids..mine cant explain things..they POKE!!!

It might sound a bit of an odd request but I thought it would be good info for other forum members too.

Or shall i just go get the Mr Muscle out?? lol

there are special tft cleaning fluids and cloths. Google will see you right.

Up until now, I have always used Isopropyl Alcohol Wipes. They seem to work ok.

(always test in small inconspicuous area first. if you can find an inconspicuous area on a new TFT monitor that is).;

Hi Phanerothyme

I was thinking of IPA too, I did a search on google and found a guy that mentioned a 50/50 split with IPA and water and he used a lens cloth to apply it. He got no reply's to his post...hence my question

Thanks for the reply

I always use a proper TFT cleaning kit for my laptop screens. The one's I use are AF ones from CPC, although any decent kits should do the job. Mine contain a 'wet' cloth with the proper cleaner in and a dry anti static cloth.

I also have a can of air duster to hand to clean all the crap out from under the keys.

Good company are CPC.

Been using them since about '93/'94 when they made parts for Amstard built Spectrums.

I just use soft tissue paper and a dab of water. Its not usually a good idea to wipe TFT's with chemicals, as occasionally the chemical can react with the plastic film on the screen.

Part of the same group I think, just less trade only than Farnell was. I've had loads of stuff from CPC over the last few years, not a bad outfit really.
