That's not extortionate for a pedigree westie puppy...

It costs a heck of a lot to breed dogs properly and ensure the right care for them. Hence the prices.

Why not have a look at a rescue if you are wanting to pay less?

I hate to say it, but that's cheap! We paid £500 for our little lad back in January and we extensively researched various breeders and prices beforehand (although admittedly price wasn't a factor, we just wanted to be sure of the breeding).

I think rescue might be your best bet, there are websites that advertise a lot of Westies (pups and older dogs) for rehoming but I'm always a little suspicious to be honest - the Westie Rescue Scheme looks good though - if you google it it'll be one of the first hits.

If you manage to find a westie for that price, I'd be seriously concerned at where it came from and who's missing their newly bought pup :suspect:

If you really can't afford the price of a pedigree pup (£500-£800) then rescue is a really good option - there are sometimes pups returned to a breeder who a new owner isn't able to cope with, so they go for cheaper too

This is sensible advice from Lottie and Strix, I would be very suspicious of any cut price pedigree dog. Please be aware of puppy farmers and the way they operate.

i bought a labrador for 250, and she has got hip dysplasia, i know its not that breed your wanting but please be carefull with so little money you have, my poor girl has hip dysplasia from bad breeding and i have to see her collapse and in pain its horrible, so please be careful where you buy a pup from as serious problems like that will not only hurt the dog but you aswell
