View Full Version : Smudge is humping things already! katy1981 17-04-2009, 18:11 smudge is our new puppy weve had him 5 days now and he is 8 1/2 weeks, hes started humping my sons arm today, does he seem a bit young for this or is this normal? Karis 17-04-2009, 20:21 Zach was doing exactly the same thing. The breeder pretended to be horrified and that it had 'never happened before in 30 years' but he was doing it to arms, cushions and even the next door lady's leg when he first met her. Thankfully, he stopped all of that now and only humps his furry friends (teddy, chicken and Mr Bun Bun (laugh and die)). According to the vet, he's quite healthy and balanced. He loves his private time with his toys. I wouldn't worry about it (I know how easy it is to get freaked out by thinking your pup is the dog from American Pie), but if you're firm and tell him no, he'll understand those things aren't acceptable and will stop doing them. Grandad.Malky 17-04-2009, 20:31 Sounds like time for the snip. katy1981 18-04-2009, 07:20 Sounds like time for the snip. :o hes too young for that just yet Grandad.Malky 18-04-2009, 10:15 :o hes too young for that just yet :hihi: Yep I think ours was about a year old before he had it done. Karis 18-04-2009, 12:31 He is way too young. This is not a testosterone issue, but some other factor... Grandad.Malky 18-04-2009, 16:08 He is way too young. This is not a testosterone issue, but some other factor... I wouldn’t bank on that ours was humping almost from the day we got him. http://www.suitable-puppies.com/puppy-humping.html eeejay174 18-04-2009, 16:31 I think for some its a frustration issue alongside hormone frustration, is he getting enough stimulation through play etc?? katy1981 18-04-2009, 16:36 I think for some its a frustration issue alongside hormone frustration, is he getting enough stimulation through play etc?? not at first, when we first got him he was poorly so he slept a lot and was really quiet, but since hes been on his medicine and has been feeling a lot healthier hes been playing and id say hes having plenty of playing time he loves tug of war :hihi: |
