Firstly, thanks to everyone that made it down for our Easter Sunday party at Penelope’s. It was a fantastic atmosphere with great sets from Paul and Danny - a suitable finish to the holiday weekend!

FISH GO DEEP (Defected, Ork Recordings)

 

Having staged Diasha parties in Sheffield for over two years now we are chuffed to be able to bring to you our first international guest - well they’ve made the short hop over the Irish sea - Fish Go Deep!

 

Greg Dowling and Shane Johnson, otherwise known as Fish Go Deep, have been a partnership since the late 1980’s. An integral part of the House scene in Ireland for over 20 years, the duo held an infamous residency at Cork’s long running night, ‘Sweat’. For over a decade the night played host to the worlds finest; DJ Deep, Laurent Garnier, Joe Claussell, Glenn Underground, Derrick Carter, Dixon, Miguel Migs, Cajmere, Rasoul, Roger Sanchez, the list goes on and on…Having won numerous accolades and plaudits ‘Sweat’ finished in 2001 and allowed Fish Go Deep to travel throughout Europe, Asia and the US.

 

The duo have been releasing their own music to worldwide acclaim since 2001, with key productions on labels such as Defected, i!, Chez Music, NRK and Strictly Rhythm. Probably best known for their huge cross-over hit of 2006, ‘The Cure and the Cause’ with vocalist Tracy K -

- the duo are also adept to releasing on serious underground labels, as with ‘ESL’ on Ame and Dixon’s Berlin based Innervisions label.

 

In 2005 Fish Go Deep set up Ork Recordings and Go Deep Recordings, two outlets for new music. To date strong support has come from Louie Vega, Timmy Regisford, Jimpster and Danny Tenaglia.

 

Currently, when not appearing on countless compilations worldwide, traversing the globe performing or hosting popular radio shows in Ireland, France and Canada, Fish Go Deep can be caught holding down a residency at their own night, ‘Go Deep’, in Cork. This latest venture sees them regularly attract to the south of Ireland the likes of Ame, Charles Webster, Harri, Frankie Feliciano, Idjut Boys, Atjazz, Jimpster, John Daly…

 

Were really pleased to offer Fish Go Deep their debut appearance in Sheffield and hope you can all make it down to join in!

Just a quick update for all. We will be joined in the studio this Thursday (7th May) by Alex Cooke of Diasha, probably Sheffields premier deephouse party. Alex has been collecting vinyl for donkeys years and I've spent a bit of time stuck in Detroit Heaven while thumbing through it.

 

Expect Hip Hop and House bizness detroit stlyle and the world over.
