There are so many DSLRs on the market to chose from, which make would you say is your personal favorite, good value for money, and best quality. (also add models)

Normally once a manufacturer has you, they keep you. If your a Nikon guy and Canon bring out a great camera you won't swap because of your lenses. Thats why the entry level cameras are so important. If they can get you in the begining they will probably keep you. Intersting to know if anyone has actually jumped ship after kitting out with one manufacturer. HarryMac 16-04-2009, 21:31 I did, i was a Canon user for years, then Oly for a couple of years and finally to Sony, Just don't like the feel of Canon anymore. It's a funny old world. Grissom 17-04-2009, 03:47 Canon user, but if I were starting now I might buy Nikon instead (and if I started sometime in future could be even I would buy RED camera system, depending on price :) ) matsalleh 17-04-2009, 07:07 As I have not used all (any) of the others I am unable to vote or give an opinion. I use a Nikon and have no problems. Sorry I have also used an Olympus. DaFoot 17-04-2009, 08:43 Not going to vote. I've only had Minolta + Sony for any length of time. Played with (equivalent) Canon and wasn't impressed but didn't play long enough to form proper view. Crayfish 17-04-2009, 09:56 Love my canon 40D. Haven't had enough experience with other makes to form an opinion. astraman 17-04-2009, 16:09 Love my Canon, but I suppose if I had any other make I would love that just as much. peak4 18-04-2009, 11:19 I tend to think that too much emphasis is put on the make of camera contributing to the quality of the end result. All the above will produce really good pictures with the a good eye behind them and the settings more or less correct. Personally my own system is not listed in the poll as I've bought into Olympus's way of doing things. The four thirds kit from Oly & Panasonic is the only one built from the ground up as a digital slr system. I must be honest that I'm not too careful where I change lenses and the Oly dust reduction method works for me; never needed to clean a sensor yet.:) The quality of their glass is amazing too. They're not quite up there on the very high ISO front yet, and may never be compared to a large sensor camera body, but it wasn't top of my list when I went shopping. sazabi2001 19-04-2009, 20:35 Nippon Kogaku.... damophoto 28-04-2009, 15:50 love my nikon d3! ImpInaBox 28-04-2009, 19:11 Has to be Canon for me tho I'm sure Nikon's are now almost as good. :D I had a series of Pentax SLRs from the wonderful MX, thru a Super A (fab camera) and P30 (OK-ish) up to the istD. I thought the istD was wonderful till it let me down seriously on a night club shoot and from then on I noticed all sorts of niggles that I'd just pushed to the back of my mind till then. Canon brought out the 5D shortly afterwards and that was it. I've got quite a few Canon and Canon-fit lenses now so there's no going back. waldershelf 29-04-2009, 09:05 I did, i was a Canon user for years, then Oly for a couple of years and finally to Sony, Just don't like the feel of Canon anymore. It's a funny old world. I started with a Zenit (no meter, manual stop down) moved onto Minolta (XD7, XG2, XGM, SRT100X) then onto Cannon (EOS?, EOS rebel) then when I went digital moved to Nikon (D70s, D40) Now I'm looking at a D90. livestrong 29-04-2009, 12:33 Canon for me... I have too many cameras and lenses to consider anything else now. |
