View Full Version : Help needed for tonight
MurrayBu 03-07-2005, 13:15 I've got a date tonight. I live in Chesterfield and don't really want to take her into Chesterfield (for many reasons!), so I was hoping anyone could help me as to where is best to go in Sheffield city center. Just somewhere nice, friendly and laid back is what I'm looking for really.
Any help appreciated.
muddycoffee 03-07-2005, 13:24 Hi Murray,
I used to take young ladies on blind dates to nice classy looking bars which weren't too loud. E.g.
1)The Old Monk, Norfolk st, next to Crucible
2)Museum, next to Orchard Square, This one is great because it has a few little private areas, when you can chat privately and has recently been decorated and looks good.
If you don't like that there is the All bar one next door, as long as you're both 21+
MurrayBu 03-07-2005, 13:41 Cheers, appreciate that. If we do go to Sheffield, I'll take her to one of the two.
Thanks,
Murray
Nooo, you can't take her to the Old Monk, it's horrible! Try Ruskins next door to the Old Monk. There's outdoor seating on Tudor Square (where the Crucible is) which would be perfect for this evening if the weather holds out. It's always quite quiet as well, so you'll be able to hear each other.

Sunday at The Devonshire Cat is a wonderful place to meet and melt into the crowd .... you won't see anyone you know there, honestly and it has air conditioning too ....
muddycoffee 03-07-2005, 13:59 This is probably good advice tingle because I have not been in the old monk for a few years. Outside could be good but I'm sure you'll have a good time.. Good Luck..
MurrayBu 03-07-2005, 14:15 I like the sound of Ruskins. Thanks anyway. I'm spoilt for choice now, best not choose the wrong one!
Thanks for the luck.
Murray
depends what you are after.
Muse on West st is a fairly trendy bar with a mix of people and live dj's.
Trippets is an upmarket (price-wise anyway) late bar where the ultra cool (and some forummers in the week :D ) go.
The Showroom is a nice chilled out bar and is very close to the station.
As its a Sunday I'd probably recommend the Showroom.
or you could take her to the Dev Cat (but it'll be full of drunkards tonight)
:D
MurrayBu 03-07-2005, 15:32 Ooh, forgot about the Showroom. Is there a carpark at the showroom? If not, where's the nearest place to park?
muddycoffee 03-07-2005, 15:34 Hi Murray,
the showroom is opposite the old Pop Museum Building, and behind that there is loads of pay and display parking which should be free at that time of night.
