Hi,

Does anyone know anything about a cricket match that is supposed to be taking place on Thursday evening between Owls and Blades On Abbeydale Sports Ground? The information I saw on the Council network suggested it was the football teams playing but I can't find any information about it on either of the official sites.

Thanks,
L

Yeh there was something about this in Fridays Sheffield Telegraph (Friday July 1 2005)

Match takes places at Abbeydale Sports Ground on Thursday from 5pm. Admission is free, though donations to the Lord Mayor's charity will be welcomed.

I did look properly thanks, but at the time I looked it wasn't on there. When I checked a couple of days later it was. It was a good laugh - Blades had a couple of fast bowlers and Gray and Jags did well batting sixes. It was funny seeing Brunt go out for a duck and Bully slide tackle the ball. (and I'm not a Blade or an Owl). We went when it started to rain though. I'll get wet for football but not for cricket.

Is it true that Sir Sturrock nearly smacked the ball into Colin?
