Am thinking about joining a gym, but would like somewhere where I don't have to sign up for 12 months. Was looking at going to Zest @ Upperthorpe. Was wondering if anyone had any opinions of it? Thanks

That's not correct, there are sessions for people referred by GP's but by no means all of them. Look at the website - www.zestcommunity.co.uk and you can see all the sessions. There is no need to sign up for a 12 month contract if you don't want to, it's just a bit cheaper if you do. lauramaria 16-04-2009, 13:20 I am a member. You don't have to be referred by your doctor although some people are. You can sign up for 12 months and get a great deal or you can pay monthly or individually. It's really friendly, has a pool and a cafe as well as a gym and does some good classes. It's also not full of posers and even has some women only classes and gym and swimming sessions. Call down and ask to be shown round. smh2004 16-04-2009, 13:43 cheers guys, I didn't think you needed to be referred by a gp. Didn't want to say anything though in case I was wrong. Just another quick question, I've seen the prices. I wouldn't mind doing it on a monthly basis. Is there a minimum contract? Is it automatically renewed? I've tried emailing them, but had no response as of yet. rad 16-04-2009, 17:40 Hi - I pay weekly or monthly at Zest and it works out fine for me. I tend to go for the all-inclusive package wih gym, exercise clases and swimming as I find using the actual gym pretty dull, but like the variety of other activities. You don't need a referral, anyone can go, but you need a gym induction to use the machines etc. You can pay as you go for sessions or months (or weeks if you have Slice), if you set up Direct Debit for monthly evenings and weekends it's a bit cheaper but it's obviously a DD and I think you have to pay something up front for that - it may even be a year's commitment? I'd suggest paying as you go at first and then you can sign up for direct debit later if you like it. smh2004 16-04-2009, 17:51 yeah cheers everyone. Called in today, have an induction on Sunday Morning. Think I'll PAYG at first. Just thought if I am gonna go 2 or 3 times a week, may be cheaper to get months membership, but don't want to be tied for x amount of months before I can cancel it if I need to. |
