I have just managed to win a 10 ft by 13 ft second hand greenhouse on eBay. I am very scared at the thought of re erecting it at home and wondered if anyone had done it before and could either give me tips or would like to get paid to help my hubby do it ASAP.
hi there, we dismantled and moved one that a friend no longer wanted a year or so ago. Advice we received at the time was:
- take photos
- mark pieces with coloured tape so you know which parts go with which.
- Don't lie the glass down in the car, cos it'll smash the first bump you hit !
- buy new bolts and clips (wilkinsons sell nuts / bolts, z clips & glazing clips)
- no matter how heavy you think it is you MUST BOLT IT TO THE GROUND ... this is v important :D cos it will move if the wind gets into it.
- wear gloves and don't attempt to put it up on a windy day
Hope this helps :)

Thank you so much for your help mc. Especially the bit about bolting it to the ground and not doing it in the wind. We are currently cleaning it all up. A few bits of glass got broken and I'm trying to source 18 x 24 and 24 x 24 inch pieces. Any ideas? BTW I cannot believe we actually have a brilliant lovely greenhouse. I am imagining all the things we can do in it already and I can't wait to see it up and running tomorrow.
you can get replacement glass, but its works out pretty expensive. One of my friends just helped me fix some missing panes - he cut some sheets of perspex - its done the job nicely and I won't have to worry that those pieces are going to break again.
Replacement glass is pretty cheap if you buy 'horticultural' glass as I believe it has slight imperfections in it, so no suitable for general glazing - If I'm wrong, please don't shout LOL
My tip for you is make sure that your base is sound and level as if there's a twist in your frame your glass may well keep breaking.
As you're bolting it to the ground, bolt it into a wooden frame of something like 2x4 so it has a nice level base to it.
