hi my sister shed was broke into the other day & she asked if i would put her some new glass in the window they had smashed, so i went along & did a good job ,i was v pleased , anyhow the next morning she rang me saying that something had scrapped out all the putty from the bottom ,so i went to re do it & the next day the same phone call saying it had happend again, so off i went again ,this time i decided that when i had finnished i hid in the shed to see what was doing it ,low and behold 5 min later this cat jumped up onto ledge & started to dig the putty out with its paw & eat it ,thinking it may poison it i scared it off didnt get a good look at it but it was one of those with the slanty eyes ,but for the love of me i cant remember the name of the breed ,any ideas?

You can get Siamese in all different colours, a friend of mine used to have them and some were brown.

We once had a Magpie pecking at some fresh putty, someone said it was the linseed oil in it that attracted them (?) sounds like there's something in there that this cat has taken quite a fancy to... ;)

Abyssinian, perhaps? They are built much like Siamese, and often brown and/or tabby.

Could be anything...

If the same build as a siamese it could've been (with my limited knowledge of cats!) a havana, oriental shorthair, abyssinian or siamese - obviously...

I'm not very good on cats but they're the ones that spring to my mind!

I'd think it was one of the orientals too (Siamese, Tonkinese, Burmese, Havana, oriental shorthair) but without a picture it's not easy to identify which one.

Perhaps pets@home could identify using pics?

Here goes...
Siamese: http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&q=Siamese+cat&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2&aq=f&oq=
(dark coloured siamese: http://www.catfacts.org/siamese-cat-facts.htm )

Burmese: http://images.google.co.uk/images?gbv=2&hl=en&sa=1&q=Burmese+cat&btnG=Search+Images&aq=f&oq=

Tonkinese: http://images.google.co.uk/images?gbv=2&hl=en&sa=1&q=Tonkinese+cat&btnG=Search+Images&aq=f&oq=

Havana (I love these!): http://images.google.co.uk/images?gbv=2&hl=en&sa=1&q=Havana+cat&btnG=Search+Images&aq=f&oq=

Oriental SH: http://images.google.co.uk/images?gbv=2&hl=en&sa=1&q=oriental+shorthair&btnG=Search+Images&aq=f&oq=

Recognise any of them? :D

An oriental is the same cat as a siamese apart from its markings.
An oriental doesn't have the siamese points (points = legs, ears (whole face), tail as a different colour to main body).

Aside from bicolour's and torties, orientals are typically one colour of which
havanna - dark brown is one

other colours inc
black
red - which is ginger
blue - which is a grey blue
white
and so on

mating siamese can result in orientals (our black oriental has a seal point mum) and mating two orientals can result siamese.
Our red point siamese had a black oriental father and Caramel Tortie (a what ?) mother

as for digging out putty.. sadly siamese/orientals have a sense of humour and love to scrounge things... so yep it probably was...

hope that helps
