Hiya everyone!
I have a problem with my male cat Oliver. He started looking a bit under the weather on Friday night and didn't eat as much as he usually does on Saturday (and this cat is very vocal and never off his food!). We went away for the weekend and my dad was feeding the cats but said Oliver did not eat anything at all on Sunday. We got back today and again he's off his food so we're taking him to the vets tomorrow. Just wondered if anybody knew what may be wrong. I have tried different foods and as he's so greedy I'm sure it's not that. He's not even purring when you cuddle him and usually he's so loud you can't hear the tv! He looks very under the weather and is very sleepy and lethargic, his right eye looks very slightly weepy though it's clear. He's only a year old and had all his first injections so I'm sure it's not cat flu. He's up to date with flea and worm treatment any ideas?
The only thing I'm worried about is I put slug pellets down the other day on my flower bed but I made sure I bought some expensive things that said it was completley safe to all pets.:(
I'm afraid there's not enough information on which to make a diagnosis. He could have a stomach bug, even if he's had all his jabs he could have cat flu (it doesn't stop them catching it, it just makes it much less dangerous, but they still feel a bit crap for a while) or it could be anything from an intestinal blockage to an infection caused by scrapping with another cat (puncture wounds don't always show on the skin but can make abscesses deep down).
I don't think that anyone can tell you without an examination I'm afraid. I hope the vet puts your mind at rest and makes Oliver feel better soon.

Thanks Medusa. We've had a bit of an upheavel this year (both me and partner lost jobs in space of 2 weeks!) so his neutering has been put off and he does come back with little puncture scabs sometimes wonder if it's that.
On that note does anyone know where we can get him done at a lower cost? (I am working now but partner still out of work and money is very tight), looked at the PDSA but looks like it's only for housing benefit/council tax etc-nothing for the working class with a big mortgage as usual lol!

Hiya,
Well we had some really bad news with Ollie-the vet felt alien bodies inside him and said it could be a blockage or tumour. They x-rayed him and it looked like a blockage so they decided to give him an aneasthetic in the hope of getting it out "manually!" :gag:
He had this but they called to say they had got most of it out but some was too far in. He had an oppperation and luckily they removed it from him-he looks immediatly better. He came home yesterday and was as good as new. Koda (7 month old lab) was estatic to see him-a little too much so we've had to keep Ollie in the spare room out of her way!:hihi:
He' going back to the vets Monday to make sure he is passing OK but he has "gone" a few times so I'm sure he will be fine now-he's also eating like there is no tommorow his favourite Whiskers Gravy meals and cat milk lol!
It ended up being some crushed bones- and the vet said sometimes they will scavenge or eat all the bones from birds they kill etc, here is a little pic of him and his scar-he's looking sorry for himslef with the collar-I'm removing it to let him clean himself and eat but then it has to go back on!

Tried to chage title to update on Oliver with pics but would not work anybody know how to do this?
Oh- doesn't he look well chuffed with the bucket on his head?
As much as it was a worry and a bit of a shock, taking Ollie to the vets was obviously the very best thing that could have happened for him.
Glad to hear that the cause was as simple and curable as a blockage in an accessible place. With any luck he'll be able to fully recover and will be back to his old self as soon as his wound has healed.
EDIT- title changed for you too.
