There not the same as they used to be. Used to be full of people flogging decent used parts, not its full of people selling pirate software and dodgy hardware. Joel steevie/d 02-07-2005, 09:50 not no more joelec they all got done its ok for a computer if you are going to build it yourself some bargains but some of it is a load of tosh its the risk you take what i cont like paying the £2.50 entrace fee just for a walk round only posted to let fellow forumers know its on that was all best regards steve... rich951 02-07-2005, 11:08 I used to go to a few fairs, but stopped when you couldn't actually get anything cheaper than just shopping at dabs/ebuyer/etc... Do any of them actually do good prices these days? (bearing in mind your warranty is probably dubious to say the least) Joelc 02-07-2005, 13:26 If its northern computer markets, they usually hve an ad in the back of MicroMart, and if you take it along its free entry :) Computer fairs were great for getting old bits, I got some extra RAM for my Alpha for £20, when its £120 new. I never bought new stuff from there, it was always cheaper to get them through direct suppilers for me, but not everyone has access to them. The best bargain I got was 2x Dell P991 monitors for £50, bearing in mind they were £150+ at the time, because the bloke said the tubes were bust because the picture was purple, turns out they just had dodgy cable, cost me about £10 for some new cable, and an hour of soldering time :D. Joel SpiderPete 02-07-2005, 19:11 I went to the last Don valley computer fair and must say it was FULL of copied software which you can download for FREE. More than half of the stalls were full of pirate cd`s and ink cartidges, only a handfull of stalls actually sold any pc stuff. nearenuff 02-07-2005, 20:19 only used to go for blank discs, dont go anymore since they put the entrance fee up can get them cheaper every sunday from oldcoates car boot they are a right waste of time now |
