Having a few issues with running programs from my old hard drive that I'm now using as a slave drive. Basically there not working which is a real pain because I dont have any of my orginal cd's/software (not because they're pirated just for the record).

Also I want to store all my music from my slave onto my main hard drive so I can listen to it in i-tunes but again it's not happening.

Basically all i want to do is have my old data from from slave copied onto my main hard drive.

Big cheers

Can you actually see your slaved drive in My Computer / df or whatever you use? And your unlikely to be able to run programs installed on it if the drive letter has changed during slaving :(

I can see and access the slave drive no probs I can even play music in i-tunes when it's plugged in. But all my old games and programmes wont run. And even though i've copied my music onto my master drive i-tunes still says it can not find the file.

As for changing the letter of the drive it's not something i've heard of before. Could you emphasise a bit for me please.

Cheers

When you install a program it typically goes into c:\programs\whatever, however when you slave up the drive it will typically change the drive letter to D:\ or somthing similar so when you try and run the program windoze goes of looking for c:\programs\whatever which no longer exists.

As for the itunes - not entirely sure as I've never used it but I would guess you have to tell it which directories to go look at to select the files to play?

You're either going to have to re-install all your programs on your new drive(s), do some very advanced registry editing or use your old drive as your new master drive and upgrade the OS, (assuming that your new drive contains a new OS that came with a new PC).

also when you install games , programs part of the program is installed into the registry, the link may be set for the c: drive, and now they are on the d: drive

install the games, programs i think :(

Chnces are there are DLL's, Regristry Keys, and other information on D; that the programs expect to find in C:.

Your going to have to find the CD's unfortunatly
