I've got a very old car stereo, it only plays CD's (badly) and skips all the time, I want to be able to play mp3's, but the size for the stereo seems different to most that are available (88cm wide by 59cm high). Any ideas? i'd settle for one that could pay mp3 cd's and doesnt skip! only looking to spend under £40 really.
You'll be very lucky! Even the el-cheapo ones are around £40-£50 then you may need fitting on top of it if your car's connectors aren't standard ISO ones.

hmmmm...bugger..may just make do and burn cd's every month as that's about how long they last in my car til they are unlistenable. I don't mind buying 2nd hand 'el-cheapo' its more the size i'm worried about...they all seem longer than mine which is a right pain
all stereos are based on the same size. Most normal stereos are single din and you can also buy double din.
when you replace them each manufacturer has their own "cage" that the stereo will fit securely in. If you buy second hand make sure you get the cage with it. you can buy them seperate but it means spending another tenner.
If you are replacing a standard car radio, odds are you will need an ISO converter. these are industry standard to connect aftermarket stereos to the cars wiring loom without any need to chop the wires, plug and play essentially.
what make of car is it?

Daewoo's are basically Vauxhalls so i would have thought that they would have the standard iso connector which plugs straight into the back of the stereo,if you were to fit a standard 'din' stereo, you would need a blanking cover to cover the remaining gap left(halfords sell these for your model). They are also having a sale with up to 50% off car stereos til 20th april.Hope this helps.
Hiya. I've had a flick round the Net, And all the Daewoo's i've seen have after market stereo's in them, and they all look to be standard DIN sized with a "tray" underneath.
If you're not sure, then go to somewhere like Halford's and they will advise you.

thanks, I think halfords maybe best bet (at least to find out what i'm after) thanks for the replies
