I remember a Sheffield restaurant that used to have a fantastic indoor laser display half way through the evening. The lasers were timed to music. This was around 1980 (ish) when such things were pure sci-fi. I seem to remember it being near the University? I can't remember its name! Kevin Taylor.

Wasn't it a flashy indian restaurant not far from Coles, on the left, as you went up Division St. The name escapes me but I used to go there at that time.
I also remember they had TVs on the walls.

I remember Gangsters, had my 12th birthday meal in there (June 1981) and it was quite a novel place in its day. Didn't it become Anila's or something?

Round the corner in Cambridge Street was a restaurant called Nameless and I remember going there in 1980, knew the owner's family.

I also recall on the corner where RSVP is a music and alternative fashion shop called firstly Impulse which was shortened to Pulse.

They sold records, PVC trousers, metal bangles and so on. It was like walking into a cavern toward the back, quite 'indie' in a way. I think they sold posters too.

I recall going to Gangsters for what was probably my 13th or 14th birthday - 1980 or '81. I chose it because it was heavily advertised on Radio Hallam and they promised this great light show featuring "twentieth century beams" (????). Sounded good to me anyway.

Only, we went straight after school, so it was only about 5pm and needless to say we were the only people in there, it was broad daylight and there were NO twentieth century beams on display. Bah, swizz!
