View Full Version : Sheffields NUMBER ONE
Robbie Loving 08-04-2009, 11:15 Stolen from elsewhere (sorry Matt).....
With the Owls being 18 points behind the mighty Blade with only 15 points available.
The crown for number one team goes to........
*drum roll*
SHEFFIELD UNITED.
Pat on the back lads :D
F. Sidebottom 08-04-2009, 11:28 You could still go into administration yet :hihi:
Well done to the blades ,but it was expected ,was`nt it ?
it would have been a massive shock if we had finshed above them ,and a disaster at the lane .

I'm happy cause this means I've won a £100 wager.....
Some silly Owl bet they'd finish above us.

Totally Agree
Technically Blades are Sheffields 3rd worst team!!!
Well Done Rotherham

Best team in the league judged by results YES
Judged by results in SHEFFIELD..................NO
Its a crap league this season robbie and whoever goes up will get their arse kicked week in week out
But the best team out of 2 teams in the same city is judged by results between the 2 teams
And as ive said, weve kicked your arse twice this season, thus at the moment we are best
Owls Vs Blades Head to head score
Currently 2 - 1 to Owls after their Derby double in Coca Cola Championship however Blades Reserves have already beaten Owls Reserves once so far with return fixture tonight so if we win can we also claim a derby double? Will this mean that both teams are equal?

That argument is as flawed as his was...
That argument is as flawed as his was...
Its not an argument. Just can't see the point of either team saying we are best in Sheffield with this years results. Yes we lost both derbies but we are above you in the league. You lost to Barnsley and Doncaster, we beat both. Just like to wind a few people up with coming out with comments. :hihi::hihi::hihi:
I think we all know that the blades are the better team in sheffield- any wednesday fans who don't are kidding themselves. :D

I'll readily agree with that. I don't like it, but it's obviously a fact.
It was still bloody great to wipe the smug smiles off your faces 3 times in 4 games though :D As it would have been for you when you were the underdogs of course.

The Blades have had two chances this season to beat Wednesday and failed both times.
United may be going close to promotion to the Premiership, but have not beaten Wednesday in 2 seasons now.
Im not knocking that you have done well but we obviously have the beating of you, and if that's the case then there's not much hope for you in the Premiership because we fail misrabley when we come up against Premieship side's.
As a lot of honest Blades have said you need to buy big or you will fail again.
Robbie Loving 08-04-2009, 19:32 You look at any side that gets promoted, they will have lost to a poor team over the course of the season that they got promoted. It has absolutely no baring on how performances will be in the premiership.

I can almost guarentee if United go up they will come back down again, you were well clear of relegation last time and fell apart big time, you need a very big squad in the premiership with quality and it will be hard for United to achieve that without some proper money being spent.
Even Man Utd were using a 17 year old recently, if you get in the situation Man Utd got in you will end up playing the physio.
Im not trying to put a downer on it fella but its getting tougher and tougher every year.

Oh come on Corker.
This so called 17 year old is being heralded as the next big thing. Are you telling me that with Man Uniteds squad they couldn't call upon someone else?
By going down by one goal last time, shows that we weren't far off what was needed. And I also believe our team is better now than it was then.... but with a manager who isn't as good.
Any team who goes up have a chance of staying up. Look at Hull, their squad isn't that big or even that good and they had a cracking start to the season and it has nearly been enough for them to stay up. Although I hope they go down.
It's not like we will stay like we are if we go up, players will be brought in.

Signing the fella in your sig wouldn't be a bad start for you, i just think that your squad as it is now is nowhere near Premiership quality, and surely you can't spend that much.

Halford hopefully will be signed regardless. He's a star.
I reckon with right investment in wages ie bosmans we can pick up some good players.

Halford is a quality player ive thought that for a couple of years now, i was impressed when you signed him as he commmanded a decent fee when Sunderland signed him.
He would be money worth spending, maybe a couple from Man Utd mentioning no names would enjoy finishing there seasons with a promoted club in the premiership.
Im defo in agreement in the bosmans as there's going to be a an absolute tidel wave of free transfers in the summer.
Robbie Loving 08-04-2009, 20:06 Our lot of our wage bill will be gone this summer too as many are out of contract and not yet been handed new contracts. So that can clear some of the deadwood, making way for new signings.
I'm not saying it's going to be easy, but it's not going to be impossible.

You have the right to be happy as obviously you were the better team on both occasions this season.
Hope we steer clear of you guys next season because we're in different leagues.

Its a bloody great feeling isn't it, i remember going to hills borough when i was growing up and we won 3-1 when everyone was tipping us to loose and it was the best feeling ever!!!!
Earwiggo 09-04-2009, 16:20 You're only No 1 'cause someone left the stable door open too long.
Somebody'll close it in the not too distant future.

You are one bitter jealous wednesdayite, once again you show your ture colours coming second in Sheffield you should be used to it by now

I'm not bitter, and will never, never, ever be jealous or envious of anything United ever do. You'll never reach the heights we reached .... never.
that green tinge must be sea sickness then.

i keep seeing this on each thread, getting confusing now, but its correct:thumbsup: certainly everything to to with the finances, running of the club etc utd are number 1 however the first team isnt that much better than a fully fit wednesday 11 as the 2 derby games showed. hopefully we can get a few extra players next season to add some depth to our squad then we might be able to cope with injurys

Could you please tell me the dizzy heights you have climbed, I am in my 50s and can remember one FA Cup final that you cocked up after being 2 - 0 up 1 Rumbelows Cup that you won and a Couple of other cup finals that you lost, remember the old adage no one remembers the one who finishes second, so for all your spout and bluster you have won one more trophy in my life time than united. No exactly the dizzy heights,
I must admit you do win the trophy for

Its so easy like fishing in a goldfish bowl, you can guarantee that the two muppets will strike like a coiled viper.
At least I have a chance of taking my drugs in the Premiership next season, rather than in administration.
By the way what team was it that had the begging bowls out in Fargate, who had the Save our Owls campaign.
And just how much money have you had invested in the team in the last few years, how much have you had invested in the infrastructure of your massive and so successful football club, myself not really knowing being a Blade could hazard a guess to the answer for this question, Nothing, Zero Zilch, a big fat Zero that is your future a big fat ZERO ZERO, ZERO, ZERO, ZERO
Ouch there goes another rib with laughing at the Wednesday:hihi::hihi::hihi:
