I would like to start and really organise myself with my freelance design work.

I would like to have a well organised spreadsheet in Excel that would act as my accountant. Trouble is... I just don't know where to start.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Anything just to get the ball rolling.

If you can afford it, buy yourself a copy of Quickbooks, much better all in one system account managment, quotes, invoices etc. Its what you want to be looking at if your really serious. Excel is OK, but I wouldent trust it with my accounts.

My accounts are fairly small. I have started making a basic database in access. It will be alright for me at the moment.

If yu've very simple accounts I'd be tempted to get a basic 'double entry' accounts book from the stationers.

Not high tech but very flexible!

And if you do decide to go for an accounts system later you'll be able to use the headings in the ledgers when you set teh accounts package up.
