I saw an ad on TV about this.

Where do you buy the tickets from and where do you find out the winning numbers etc?

The money from a win would come in very hand, believe me.

Yeah, beacuse the UK lottery with more chance of a win, currently at £5 Million is far too small. ;)

The yacht I want costs £25 million so the UK lottery isn't enough :(

It's run in conjuction with our National Lottery (Lotto) and you just ask for a Euromillions ticket at any National Lottery outlet.
It is £1.50 a pop instead of the normal £1.00, but otherwise you just choose your numbers as normal.

OR you can play online with a debit card on the official website:

http://www.national-lottery.co.uk/player/p/home/home.do

............ where you will see all results as well.

big whoop £40 million... we've had bigger jackpots than that here when the lottery first started... didn't we have a few triple rollovers at like £60 million?

personally I'd settle for £200,000 so I could get myself on the property ladder, I'd rather work and do something with my life than win that amount of money and every one think i'm a lazy git who cant do anything and was just lucky

With that kind of money, you could do stuff with your life.

Travel the world, take risks, and buy one of these so you can do it all looking cool

If I won that much money I just wouldn't care what people thought about me. The butler could see 'em off at the door. Or the gatehouse. ;) You could buy your own newspaper and have regular articles about how ace you were just to keep everyone informed about how hard you were working when in reality you'd be idling around being hand-fed grapes or something.

I often think it would be funny to win the lottery and keep up the pretence of not having won it by having an ordinary house which concealed an immense underground mansion with a secret tunnel to the railway station, from whence you could sneak off to have spending sprees in Harvey Nicks. Like the Duke of Portland (?) who lived at (or rather, underneath) Wellbeck Abbey. :)

LOL!

A bit like the Medicis of Florence who built enclosed walkways between their palaces so they wouldn't ever get rained on, or have to use the same streets as the hoi-polloi

but just think:

Just how long are the odds of winning?
You're 16 times more likely to get killed driving to the gas station to buy the ticket.
There is a 1,000-times greater chance of the Earth being destroyed by a meteorite.
You are 8,000 times more likely to be hit by lightning.

at least in Detroit you are! (the odds of winning this one were 1 in 76 million):

why cannot we run a European lottery which is not for profit and the rewards go to needy causes/countries?

If you win you get a token (donated) prize (Ie a car)

therefore you can donate with the incentive of winning something which a corporate sponsor will give.

You are right about never a dull day, with some of the merchant bankers they have for management. :D
