These were shot in the butterfly garden at Singapore's Changi Airport.
It was 6:30 am and the temperature was already 28degrees with 99% humidity.
I had to keep wiping my lens as it was steaming up constantly.

Some of them seem a bit soft to me, but I hope you like 'em anyway.

Fab critters ! First one is nice, might be better with the reds toned down a little perhaps ?

Cracking shots of them butterflies Astraman, I really like the starkness of the red flower against the pale butterfly. For me it accentuates the creature.

I love the red in the first one, if anything, I'd make it MORE red. lovely contrast.

I'd personally tone down the yellows/greens in pic one so the background was a little less distracting... excellent pics though

I've been to a butterfly garden trying to take pictures and I know how difficult the conditions make it. And although I love butterflies and I know I would not have been able to cope better, these all look a bit unnatural to me. They almost look posterised? (or whatever the term is). Magnificent creatures though!

I'd have to agree - very striking pics but just a tad over-saturated if you ask me.

I didn't alter the saturation at all during processing. Just tweaked the levels and curves in PS.

Even curves and levels can alter the colours I think, from my limited understanding (would love to learn how to use curves!). Sometimes less is more though, and that is especially true for post processing of images. I have no problem with sharpening (not too much mind!) or even applying levels when there are very dark areas or the exposure wasn't perfect, but I much prefer a more 'natural' look. I would love to see the originals, out of camera! (This is obviously my personal and probably very boring opinion)

Does anyone have links to online tutorials in how to use levels/curves etc? I can't justify spending millions (it seems like that to me!) on PS while I'm never going to make money out of it, although i have tried it and would love to own it. I have downloaded GIMP, which I'm yet to master :)
