I want to start with my first allotment so I'd like a respected and decent starting allotment (nothing that will give me trouble). I live literally 2 minutes walk from Crystal Peaks (Gypsy Queen side). Where's the nearest allotment patch that will meet my needs? I've only just signed up to this forum and I've just read the moss way thread with interest so it sounds like I should avoid that!
Ideally walking distance would be nice but not essential.
there are allotments at the back of the angel at woodhouse - is that any good?

Possibly. It's not walking distance but not far in the car. Do you know if they are well kept / free from vandalism etc?
Thanks
well they look okay when we pass, and there's always somebody down there busying away
why don't you take a walk down there one evening now it's lighter? most people we've come across down there are reasonably chatty
sorry I don't know any more. we just pass them walking the dog
I hate to dampen your enthusiasm, but allotments are very popular these days. As a result the majority of sites have waiting lists of many years. Those that don't I imagine won't be in a great condition. Even if you get one on a well maintained site they've usually been left for a at least a few months (often a lot longer) and will need some clearing.

There are 2 within walking distance of you. Up Sothall Green (towards the Fox) and up the road with Simons hairdressers on it (towards the Belfry)
Good Luck
