Does anyone have any ideas as to what is available in the south yorkshire area?

I am looking for a holiday club that will put in extra staffing if they feel its needed.

A child minder to two days a week after school in the Abbey Lane area of sheffield.

Some sort of holiday or weekend away for my son every 3/4mths.

Any ideas anyone?

Are you aware of SNIPS? (Special Needs Inclusion Playcare Service). They will find, pay for and arrange a place for you son at a suitable place in Sheffield with the right levels of support.

only pay if you fit the criteria - thats what we have been told today - and guess what we dont fit the criteria - my son as adhd, asd and dyspraxia - dont know why we dont fit the criteria

He goes to a good main stream school and just gets three hours a day one to one each day.

The sheffield autistic society do some holiday cover but for 8yrs and above.

If he is in mainstream school its differcult but however if he were at Rowan or bents Green he would get it ! I had care of a child on respite some years ago now he only qualifie for 2 sessions a week which were at Shoreham street childrens centre, they gave him a named keyworker just for him, they made his sessions fun and he was sad when he was to old to go there. His parents had to fight for everything they eventually got so dig your heals in a keep shouting at the relevent services.

The difficulty i have is finding somewhere and finding out how much it will all cost. The funding authority have already agreed to pay, but they are not local to sheffield. i just don't know where he should go! I would rather he go more mainstream with higher staffing level just for him.

He is going to Hunters Bar play scheme this holiday and they would be prepared to up the staffing if and when they feel it is needed...he really likes going and tomorrow even though me and his sister are going out for the day he is happy knowing he's going to his holiday school as he calls it.

My main problem at the moment is looking for weekend breaks, where he can go and enjoy himself and have real fun... and we can have a quite weekend...Easter holiday has been mad and unsettling for him, easter day itself was a nightmere

Sorry I forgot to mention that SNIPS are going to assess my son whilst at holiday scheme durin g this holiday. They say we are entitled as working parents and as long as we use the child care for whilst we are at work then thats ok.

Have you tried 'Woodies Out Of School Club' which is based at Woodseats Primary School but is independent of the school. They hold an after-school club 3.30-5.45 and have an holiday club (school holidays) which can be split for either full days or half days 8am-5.45 or 8am-1pm/1pm-5.45.

If you want the contact details please pm me and I will pass them on to you.
