I am trying to find some information on my Great Grandfather Willam "Chippy" Dixon or a bare knuckle fighter who I have heard was the only fighter William "Iron" Hague did not manage to beat. I am also looking for photos of Woodhouse Area about 1900.
Would be great if someone out there could help.

I know he died around 1936 and according to a family member he was mentioned in an article in the Sheffield Telegraph when Iron Hague died although I have no dates of when Iron Hague died. He lived at 132 Mansfield Road, Intake, but where he was born I have no idea. He was not even named on my grandmothers birth certificate, so I am completely in the dark.

I have a George Dixon on record at that time the turn of the century he was born in Ireland, would you think that has some connection.

It could be. As I stated before I have nothing much to go on. My nephew , who is a professional boxer, has also been looking for information and he also came up with a George Dixon. I have been told from 2 differenrt sources that his name was William. I am going to have to make a visit to sheffield archives and have a look at the article on William Iron Hague. Do you Know the year of his death by any chance. Thanks again for your help.

Mrs Annie Dixon was my great grandmother, although, I believe her name was Annie Kelly as she was not married to William Dixon. He died around 1936.
