View Full Version : Starting a new 5 a side team.
I have been looking for a 5 a side team on here that needs players with no luck. There seem to be a lot of other people wanting the same thing. Does anyone fancy starting a new 5 a side team?
I'm from High Green but I can play pretty much anywhere in the Sheffield area, would prefer Friday nights but any night could work. I want to play regularly for the buzz and for fitness.
If you're keen drop me a line or just comment on this post.
Also I've not started a 5 a side team from scratch before so any tips on getting it off the ground or the best places to play would be ace.
Cheers
Mik
jl-heating 31-03-2009, 20:37 i could be pushed into it very easily. :)

I've reset it to allow e-mails. I'll look up goals on granville road.
Well so far we have three potentially interested players. Is there anyone else wanting to join in?
Hi, I would be interested in this, not played in a few years but would like 2 get fitter and give it a go again. PM me please with further details.
Thanks
TheTwirler 03-04-2009, 18:44 I used to play outfield and in goal, been off for around a year after having a few operations and injuries, back fit again now, let me know, I live other side of city but can make GOALS.
Well thanks to everyone for replying so far. We have six players showing intrest, including a second keeper. I suggest we use this message board to sort out the night we play and the venue. So far the proposal is Monday nights at Goals. What do you guys think?
we also need to think of
*team name
* positions
*date of first game (next week is out for me - I'm on hols in the lakes till tuesday)
* strip
Anything else you can think of?
Cheers

sheepfish 04-04-2009, 11:34 What about Hardly Athletic or Inter Yasister? I normally play rb/cb but obviously things change with 5 a side. I'm flexible for the date of the first game, are we going to try and join a league? Does anyone know how much it is to join the league?
cant wait to get started!
While we start and get a feel for things it might be the best idea to buy some cheap bibs instead of a strip..will do the same job.
I spend most of my time being moved between CB and CM..there is much debate about my best position but agree that
Monday nights would be ideal for me.
mikkaeel 05-04-2009, 14:54 is this indoor?
sheepfish 06-04-2009, 08:58 I think it's outdoor in an artificial pitch. I need to know if I can use molded blades on it, if not i've got another pair of boots but it's all about the predators!!!
sheepfish 06-04-2009, 09:00 I've just taken a look on decathlon as well, and they've got cheap shirts for £5.95 and I think I've already got a blue and white one as well
5.95 sounds a very decent price....
How old/young are we all....
Woods11 - 24.....
sheepfish 06-04-2009, 10:21 I'm 25 - still doesn't seem right when I say that and I'm going to be 26 in a few months
TheTwirler 07-04-2009, 10:25 I'm 22,
I already play on Mondays, for my works team. Only play occasionally but if we went into the same league as them, that would cause a conflict of interest and I'm pretty certain I'm not allowed to be registered for two teams in one league..
pontecake 07-04-2009, 15:19 I've sent you a PM...my fella is wanting to start playing again...sent you his number...he's 'well up for it!'
I am 36 and more Ikea than Iker Casillas. Anyone have ideas for team names so far? The decathlon tops sound like a winner at £5.95. For this first match we'll go for a 1st kit of red and a second of blue. We can sort out permanent colours over a beer afterwards.
I'm sure for the first match people could rustle up one of each (red and blue t-shirt) - it shouldn't matter if they are all the same make for this try out match, just bring one of each.
Afterwards we'll sort out proper matching kits, badge, sponsorship by Nike, stadium naming rights and the like.
Cheers

sheepfish 07-04-2009, 19:58 Ok, i want to keep my own image rights tho. And be able to afford a hooker old enough to be Queen Victoria's grand mother. Juicy.
as long as you play like rooney as well, your choice in women is fine by me.
sheepfish 07-04-2009, 20:04 probably more like shrek but you'll never tell the difference until i shoot
ega04cmd 09-04-2009, 13:58 I'm up for this if you still need players. I work in Leeds so in the week I don't get back until about 7. Cheers
talewilly 09-04-2009, 21:53 or8 lads i play down at golas already twice a week so unfortunatley im not looking to play another day but id like to help out. erm the pitches cost 34.50 a game at the start of every new season theirs also a registration fee of 20 quid. your aloud to play 8 players per match but have around 20 on a squad. and your not aloud to wear any blades at all but are aloud to wear molders. and if you are short then i would be more than happy to play for the first thew weeks till u get ur players together
Cheers talewilly. I appreciate the advice. What team and league are you in? Will you be there on Monday?
talewilly 09-04-2009, 22:05 i play their sundays and wensdays and i wont be their monday i play for the local pubs pool team but if u need any more advice just drop me a email and ill try and help out
Hi Everyone,
our first match is tomorrow night and so far Craig, Woods11, Rensh and myself have confirmed we're coming. That means we need one more player to get off the ground. Please drop me a line on PM or on reply to this post to say if you're coming too.
Kick off 7.45 pm
Bring: shinpads, red and blue t-shirts, trainers. Some cash (no more than a fiver will be needed to cover cost of pitch).
Meet at 7.15 by the big screen in the lounge at Goals! on Granville Road near Norfolk park.
Cheers
Mik
