I've got some IT recert exams coming up and I'm finding it so hard to revise. I'm constantly finding excuses not to do it. Checking emails, feeding the fish and forever looking at this Forum. Any tips out there ?

TIA

Ah, I remember the days of work avoidance - oh no! that's what I'm doing right now!!! Cripes!

Good luck with it mate. Give yourself rewards of haribo!

break it all down.

say to yourself. right, i'm going to just do 20 minutes then have a break for 10. then do another 20 mins and break for 10. keep increasing the time you actually revise when you feel yourself getting into it and on a roll. thats how i did my finals and i got a 2:1 !!!

if you also set yourself really easy realistic targets of what to learn in a certain time it doesn't get to overwhelming.

also have a look here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/communities/onionstreet/skills/)

different things work for different people. try different methods until you find what works for you!

Good Luck

In response to the link above, am I the only one who thinks it's no surprise that kids don't do any revision, when all they see on the BBC is adverts for their 'bitesize' website that depict revision as some scary monster wanting to eat them up, and also where some kid says 'Revision? Blah blah blah, worrever'? What's wrong with revision, or hard work for that matter? Everything doesn't have to be fun, or a game - sometimes you just need to knuckle down and get on with it. It's all part of the dumbing down culture if you ask me.

Personally I've never found IT exams difficult, its either logical thinking or regurgitating facts...

just slap on some classical music to relax you, or anything else soft that wont get you tense and your heart beating fast...

then just sit and skim through, try and quiz yourself and skim again... when it comes to diagrams picture them in your head, then try to visualise the writing in your mind imagine placing the writing to fit...

its a great way to memorize things like that... images stick better in your head than words... if you have a string of things to remember try and make a rhyme or song :) if its catchy enough you'll never forget it!

Yeah definately music helps, what I do (did, finished for a while now ;) ) was to compress my notes into diagrams and make my own overviews.

I'll find out if it helped in August :P
