PLEASE NOTE: Somebody has merged these threads so I will edit the first post as not everyone reads to the end and I want people to be aware of the change of plan:

Monday 13th we have no photo session (please see my post on page 2 which was originally posted as a different thread) as we will be closed.

Every Monday throughout National Pet Month (4th April - 4th May) we have FREE photo sessions with the Pawsitively Pets (subcontracted!) photographer - Lisa Gore.

She will be here between 10am - 4pm every Monday and here to take photos of you with your pet, or just your pet.

You will also receive one free small print with the option of buying more.

Please ensure dogs are on a lead and cats/small animals are kept in relevant containers to get here.

Give us a call first if you'd rather 07518 667 575

Wow, thats an awesome idea. Don't think our mangy old tom is really photo material though, bless him.

Oh brilliant. Any ideas what kind of prices her photos are? Ginger is very old, and it would be lovely to have a professional photograph for me to keep when she's no longer here :)

I'm not entirely sure what you'd be looking at but she doesn't charge loads for them...

I'll get some more info from her as to prices...

Ginger's more than welcome... But as much as I love April, she's not!!

  Bless her! She's adorable but unless we photographed her in the cat basket I wouldn't trust our current barriers to contain her!!

I'm utterly in love with the damn animal even if she iis a total hyperactive cowbag-she says she has "character". That's one way of putting it I suppose!

But she gives out special moments, more then I care to mention. I suspect we wouldn't see this side to her if she was forced to smile for the camera in public however......:D

Ginger it is then:hihi:

Lottie I am so there. I have 5 to do though so would have to make a couple of trips. All are friendly but just a handfull all at once and I don't think your shop would cope. :hihi:

cooljules, I'm sure she could do a photo but you would have to handle the spiddy! I sincerely doubt Lisa will and I certainly won't be! No offence of course...

Geerarrfe would be great to see you :D

Personally not so bothered about the turtles (sorry! :)) but wouldn't mind a go at your spiders one weekend. Only so many times I can photograph my 2!

why? just because it doesnt fit your cute n fluffy happy image you dont like it? i have some amazing huge reptiles that are amazing, smart and docile...5' long and snakes longer.

another person who doesnt like the thought of a tarantula anything but a nasty evil animal that should be squished like people do to house spiders...

Its fine, i will stay at home with my reptiles....keep them out of sight.

and that phobia thing you mention, i have seen it, and got many many people over the fear of them...infact old magsie on here has held my tarantualas, snakes, even big Iguanas etc and came to realise they arnt evil and nasty like people think....and thats a very old women!

Didn't mean to offend you :( I genuinely do have a phobia - even seeing them on tv makes me physically sick) - please accept my apologies and please don't stay at home and miss the opp to have your animals photographed!! sorry

Whoa CJ - I don't have a problem with you bringing him/her! There are plenty of people who won't handle rats, but I love them. In fact, I know people who hate dogs and you know what I'm like with dogs!

I can appreciate the beauty of a tarantula and what you see in them, I really can - I just can't handle them myself (I'm sure I could if I worked at it but never have!).

It's not finoni's fault either if she has never worked on getting over the phobia, but everyone is welcome. I hope my comment didn't actually cause you any offence - I figured you'd be handling the spiddy anyway...

It's no worse really than me telling Litlemermaid she can't bring April

ah ok. i thought you meant you just hated them full stop, i see that all the time.....they just dont want to listen or understand that they are actually quite smart, docile, non agressive, soft etc. and not to be feared...(although i do have a very dangerous evil specie)

A chilean rose, or a red knew are soft, cute and arachnids outdate dinosaurs etc.

A pet tarantula would make a good pet, for a busy person, easy to keep and great to watch...and some of mine go a year without food...

a male and a female, differ in size, and act differantly, a tarantula will generally stay in a burrow and wait for food, a bug etc to come to it, then it pounces...a great part of the eco system

i have lots of types of roaches too, not all dirty and nasty, again like most people thing, but gentle, non agressive (AND CLEAN!) and again do a good job in the wild...

a tarantula, is as soft as a cat...they just dont want to get hurt...and settle down.

I have been biten/stung by many scorps, T's venomous snakes etc, but i have been working with education and understanding (yes i prefer them in the wild) and public demonstrations going back to the 90's, to show people, a snake, a tarantula, is not to be feared, but understood and respected....and also that a cute little green Iguana, that you can buy for a few quid, can grow into a 6' huge monster with teeth and claws that will cut to the bone...and need lots of work and taming, yet always end up in rescue centres...i have had the same ones here for 13 years that took a lot of taming etc, and can happily be stroked and taken out in the summer.

My GF and many other people i knew, had phobias of tarantulas, but with time and understanding, even magsie who got up soooo close to the T, felt how soft and gentle it was, realised, there not to be scared of, and nothing like people presume..

i know some people panic at the sight of them, i keep them all in tubs, and yes i have some i handle (i have some i dont!!!) and always cover them over if people dont like them..i have even friends who wont visit me cos i keep them, even if they cant see them, but some got over that, and grew to know they are not as bad as people think, and are amazing to watch

Glad you understand - my dh keeps saying I should do something about my phobia but.........

Cockroaches I can handle - I lived in Thailand for a long time and we had them regularly crawling around our apartment. Snakes, reptiles, no problem - again we often had geckos in our apartment! Sounds like you are very passionate about your animals which makes them very lucky to have you looking after them!

PS My newphew in Australia does animal education and has a tarantula, a crocodile (small of course), snakes and lots of other reptiles and nimals in his house!!

i have a house full of unwanted reptiles, mostly big stuff, that people dont realise how big they get, turtles, iguanas etc etc and lots of neglected animals, but i like bugs too. when i was younger i lived in the wild in a couple of countries, surounded by bugs, snakes etc, nothing better than waking under a sun surounded by wildife, i didnt fear it, i tried to respect it (even if i had to eat it!)

Oz has some amazing wildlife, but its people moving in on where the animals have been for millions of years (same as Amazaon etc) it when problems start...

I like hamsters, i used to breed them in the 80's, but im more into reptiles now, trying to stop wild caught species and breed them myself, even though it costs me a absolute fortune and i make nothing from it...but some reptiles look really good on fotos, the charachter come across etc.

A snake or tarantula can be a good pet, but it can also be a bad pet...needs care etc. just like a dog or a cat.

As some of you know we currently have free photo sessions going on on Mondays at Pawsitively Pets.

We had one person come in with his dog for photos this week and some of the photos were really fantastic! Really captured is character! Can't wait to get them up on the site!

However, on Monday 13th there will not be a photo day as the voluntary photographer won't be able to make it and I've decided I need some time off! So we'll be closed!

However, the following week, it will be back to normal!

come over, at firth park, any little fear you might have had will be long gone when you see how wonderful, interesting and amazing the reptiles and arachnids are, even a cockroach is an amazing creature!

i have just had to buy another cheap digi cam, cos a rescue snake knocked my other last year...so cant get any close ups etc. but face on with a large tarantula, and watching them walk is amazing...and hardly changed much in millions of years!
