As part of the National Pet Month, Pawsitively Pets is having a 'small furry' open day!

We have definite attendees including guinea pigs, ferrets and rats, still trying to locate rabbits and hamsters etc. but it should be a really good day.

The open day is between 12 and 4 at Pawsitively Pets on Abbeydale Road (number 98 - London Road end of Abbeydale Road).

Learn how to feed and look after small pets, or just come along to have a cuddle with the friendly animals attending.
There will be things to buy, but there is no obligation whatsoever to do so - it's simply to have a good day out!

Should be some nice freebies to take advantage of and lots to do!

We all look forward to seeing you there, so please come along and say hi!

Edit to add: All animals have been invited specifically - this day is for people to vist, please leave your pets at home!

I'll try and pop down (without pig(s)) I'm afraid, but i've been meaning to nip over and see the shop ever since it opened, just don't seem to have had a spare half-hour at lunch recently!

Basically... my shop's only small and whilst I do not want to discriminate against any arachnids I think it may be worthwhile sticking to one group at a time...

It's not that I don't want them here at all... I'm just not sure where I'd put them - we've had to pass on the chicken idea because I don't have anywhere for them either so probably better to stick to small furries for this particular open day.

I will have a think about how we may be able to work it but in reality, I think the shop's going to be packed out as it is...

we are at a family wedding that weekend - shame as i would have liked to come we shall see what happens - which of your lovely ferrets are you taking jedi??

debs has said storm and coco will be there they are 2 she hand reared and love to play and i`ll bring zorro and smudger. Debs is trying to sort some freebies to.

Make sure you tell them to be the cutest they can be on the day jedi, that would probably be more effective then fluttering my eyelashes at haddock in my quest for another pet :hihi:

lol will do we will also have fact sheets (1 for adults 1 for older children and 1 for under 5's) as well as having a sheet with all current rescues avaliable for adoption and write ups of them to give out.

p.s storm is always cute and everyone wants her when they come to visit.

Thanks! We now have a bunny and a hamster attending as well so most of the common small furries are spoken for (we have rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, rats, hamster... I think that's it...)

Max loves furries but for the wrong reason so if I pop down I'll leave him at home munching on one of his bones, I like ferrets and rats but am glad spiders are not invited as then I'd probably be avoiding that entire side of the city.

Wallbuilder - it is no (other) animals anyway ;) It would get just a little chaotic if everyone visiting brought pets so we're keeping it to just the volunteers with theirs!

I guess my little yorkie don't class as a small furry, although he fits the description lol

Fantastic!! I was at the shop til late last night clearing as much out of the back room as I could and although shop is closed, I am down there again today to prepare for Sunday as I won't be able to on Saturday due to being at a cat show.

So far so good... although I'm not sure that all the bits I'd ordered have come through... it'll all come together!

So hopefully we'll have some people turn up :lol:

I'm only going to be at this event until 1.30pm so if you want to come and meet some piggies you'd best get there early!

Hi guys! I'm shattered! Thanks everyone so much for coming, was a nice day and although we didn't get loads of people through the door, we did ok! Jediwarrior and his OH had the ferts on leads outside drawing people in and it was worth setting it up just so you got those lovely three ferts rehomed! The people that are taking them come in regularly for ratty stuff and they are lovely - the ferts will be well loved there!

To everyone else who came - thank you so much, it was great to meet new people and had an absolute hoot - especially with Eejay's OH! :lol:
