Does anyone know?

Even when theres a big film coming out and they know it will get busy, there are no seat bookings? Why?

I feel bad for big groups of friends going and having to sit seperately from their friends. I've seen it several times. :(

Some of you will say go early and get a seat but sometimes it not possible.

Unrelated.....can't wait for Transformers 2 and Fast and Furious :D

My bold, me neither! A bit of Vin Diesel in his tank tops MMMMMMMMMMM!!! :D

Seriously though, I don't understand it neither. It wouldn't be too hard to enforce and would be a good idea for the more popular films.

i don't know for certain fg, but i suspect it might be because in the past, people didn't realise that they were supposed to sit in particular seats....and so would sit anywhere....

have witnessed a lot of huffing and puffing as people have turned up late to sit in their 'designated seat' and found someone else sitting in it....:)

The real reason is that there hasn't been any film which has really needed it yet this year. Not a great deal of sell outs so far on films (a lot of business spread over a range of films instead). When there have been sell outs there have not been issues of people not sitting together (aside from one or two isolated cases I can think of).

The only seated shows we have done recently were the opening weekend of Bolt 3D.

Once the real blockbusters come along in the summer, we will start seat allocation on those that deserve them (ie: those which do well on pre-bookings such as Star Trek, Transformers, Potter, Terminator) Pointless otherwise, and slows down box office as people hum and hah about whether to sit on row J of F.

I'd prefer to not have to queue for ages while people decide where to sit! If there's a group of you going, it's easy to book the tickets in advance (earlier in the day) or just get there early and have drink before the film so make sure you get seats together.

Yup, a common problem, especially on the 'not really all that full' seated shows, where you get the "Well, it's not like it's ****** busy is it?" response a lot. There have been times when we have stopped the adverts and trailers and told everyone to move to their seats and almost half the screen have played musical chairs. Seems some people get confused at the strange letters and numbers on the tickets. Hence we are limiting the number of seated shows we do (we used to do them on the main releases each weekend - now only the major releases).

A few of our box staff were great at being quite polite and abrupt with the "front middle back?" query, and not letting the customer see the screen at all. Sadly some would turn the screen to the customer and then wait whilst they dithered over whether to get an aisle seat or not. It's frustrating to see a queue which would go down in 5 mins take 10 mins to move due to un-necessary time spent at the tills.

Definately, especially when you go into the screen and you can sit pretty much wherever you like anyway!

At least this way they can dither about where to sit without holding everyone else up!

I think the staff at Cineworld and always very polite and friendly.

I'd prefer where to sit when i get in a cinema to be honest. There is nothing worse than deciding you want to sit somewhere and you get sat in front of the most annoying people in the world, much better to choose yourself.
Good decision Beakerzoid!

Good decision Beakerzoid!

It kind of bit us on the bum this weekend. We didn't anticipate the flurry of people for the mindless shennanigans of fast and Furious (yes, we knew it would be busy....just not THAT busy), and it would have been handy for allocated seating as most people were in groups of 4 or more watching it (so a few people kicking off on Friday and Saturday when they couldn't get seats together for the 7.30pm show).

Ah, well....you live and learn.

We will be using allocated seating on the following films that we anticipate strong pre-bookings on (main performances only...not all day and week)

Wolverine
Star Trek
Night At The Museum
Harry Potter
Angels and Demons

I just signed up for an Unlimited card today at Cineworld.

Got to watch the pennies a bit now, another 13 and half quid a month going out.

Although I reckon you will save on what you used to pay, with the number of films you get through each month. Also, don't forget, if you are on DLA benefits you can apply for a CEA card to get an additional person in for free with you (see http://www.ceacard.co.uk/ for details)

I've had one of those for a while.

Got plenty of use out of it lately as well, might go and see Paul Blart: Mall Cop on Thursday, 10 to 4 showing, finishes just in time to nip home and put some tea on before going back out for work after 7.

I'll keep a look out for ya. I'm working until 5 on Thursday.

Assistant mod note: I've deleted a number of posts. Can we keep to the subject? Many thanks.
