If you go on the nhs direct website you can search for dentists in your area and it tells you if they are registering or not and how long the wait will be before your first appointment

It's getting more and more difficult to find a dentist on the NHS.

I have had to go private. I was recommended a good dentist but he wasn't taking on NHS patients.

However, I have to say (and this really shouldn't be the case) the treatment I have received is well worth the extra money. I don't know why this is, because the fee you pay as an NHS patient is subsidised by the Government (I think) so the service you get should be the same, but it isn't. Although as an NHS patient there are limits to what is available (only the basics).

There was a website I found a few weeks ago that listed Yorkshire dentists who were taking on new patients. Mozella has since wiped my bookmarks, so I can't give you a link. Anyways, I managed to squeeze myself through the doors of a dentist on Birley Moor Road, S12.
