Thanks for all your answers (including the Manor ;) )

Sort of thought it might be Meersbrook but couldn't see why it would be meandering. Guess the old grey matter is too old or too grey or both :loopy:

it really couldn't be "'me' and 'er' in stream" could it? or is that just me looking for something thats not there...?

Given this more thought... Is there a Sheffield district starting with 'Long' ('meandering' meaning long) and then a word meaning 'stream'? (don't know Sheffield all that well)

Reckon you're spot on there. Very clever.

meander doesn't mean long, it means winding. and ley is a meadow, not a stream. :)

Meandering - many definitions but in thesaurus...

Main Entry: indirect
Part of Speech: adjective
Definition: roundabout
Synonyms: aberrant, ambagious, ancillary, backhanded, circuitous, circular, circumlocutory, collateral, complicated, contingent, crooked, devious, discursive, duplicitous, erratic, eventual, implied, incidental, long, long-drawn-out, long-winded, meandering, oblique, obscure, out-of-the-way, periphrastic, rambling, secondary, serpentine, sidelong, sinister, sinuous, sneaking, sneaky, subsidiary, tortuous, twisting, underhand, unintended, vagrant, wandering, winding, zigzag

'Long' is in there!

But I reckon the answer's Meersbrook... (should always go with first instincts!)

I'm with Greybeard on this one - first thing that sprung to mind is Wyming brook, which surely is derived from 'winding brook'

What about Wybourn

A bourn is a stream but not sure on the wy bit
