View Full Version : Checking filesystem on D: (every single time I boot)

After re-installing XP-pro ... plus SP2 + all updates ...

Every time I reset my PC or turn off / on ... each time it boots up ... it decides it needs to check the integrity of the filesystem on my D: drive.

I have 2 drives. The first drive has 2 partitions (C: and D:) and the second has one (E:). All partition are NTFS:

How do I stop it from checking the filesystem on D: every boot up?

Yes, I've let it run through the test about 4 times now. It just keeps coming back every time.

My guess is its not finishing writing the cache to the drive before it powers off. There is a bug in one of the hotfixes that solves it (its caused by a supposed hotfix), so just make sure as upto date as possible. If you are, try running a scan from within windows and see if that solves it.
