This has probably been asked before but how do I find out where family are buried? I have names, dates of birth and death etc but is there a general register kept of burials??

I have names, dates of birth and death etc but is there a general register kept of burials?? Minimo 26-03-2009, 16:08 I am not aware of a general register. You have dates of death, but do you also know where they died? If they lived in times covered by census, have you found them there and so know where they lived. Then it would be a case of checking out local churches/burial grounds. You could also check (if it is Sheffield) sites such as Sheffield Indexers and Sheffield Records as they have transcribed and indexed a lot of burial records. If not Sheffield do a google search for similar local indexes. If you want to give more detail on SF or pm me, I could try and help further. Ms Interpret 26-03-2009, 20:15 Many thanks for reply I will try your suggestions It shouldnt be so hard as they are fairly recent deaths ie last century and all in the sheffield area I just didnt know where to start jessiet 27-03-2009, 16:06 try burngeave cemetery a lot of people were buried there ,a very kind lady found my family graves in there she also takes photos too ,contact the friends of burngreave cemetary they are really helpful .
