It was very much an "18-30" type of place, lots of theme bars, full-English breakfast greasy caffs, and p*ssheads on mopeds razzing about. I suppose if you want a full-on drinking sesh type of holiday it would be OK, but that was pretty much all there was there. drolnhoj 29-06-2005, 16:37 Originally posted by dylan_61 I went there in the winter. We went with our two kids (6 & 4) last year and did not find it at all like Blackpool. Ok I know there is an area that is more for the 18-30 brigade but we kept away from that area. We stopped at the Fiesta Tropico which is a family hotel and had a great time. The local bars and restaraunt's were inexpensive and there was some good food on offer. We ate in a Tapas bar several times and enjoyed the local cuisine as well as eating good quality English food at a restaurant run by an English woman. I reckon there is something for all ages there. banesmabes 29-06-2005, 17:29 I went a few years ago and also thought it was quite nice. Again we avoided the 'club 18-30' scene by not going to any of the big clubs, and had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. There are the usual people hanging around outside bars trying to get you to go in - but I actually didn't think there were as many as in some other resorts I've been to. Plus you can always go exploring other parts of Majorca. Palma's not a million miles away and is worth at least a day. And you should certainly head inland as the scenery is stunning. deelightful3 29-06-2005, 19:11 all i can say is i hope u like only fools and horses scavos 29-06-2005, 20:56 I've just come back from a stag weekend in Magaluf, (9 old school mates). Obviously, as a group we were there for the typical stag weekend sites, smells and sounds. However, I have to say I thought it was much cleaner than it was 15 years ago - Oh God was it that long ago?. The beach was fine, the sea was clean and weather great. The atmosphere along the main run of busy bars was generally superb. There's a real buzz and everyone appeared to be having a great time. The touts are a bit of a hastle though. I can understand people who make the comparisons to Blackpool because of the all the stag and hen crowds, but it's nowhere near as bad. Great place for group of lads/lasses. Lots more lads than lasses there though. Certainly not for couples - try Alcudia, Cala Millor or Cala Dor instead. Bedhead 30-06-2005, 09:54 i'm off to Tenerife - what's that like? my mate is working there for a couple of months promoting cigarettes i don't think i'd normally go to a place like this - i can imagine it being pretty cheesy and full of chavs etc - is it?? or are there some decent bars and nights out with some cool funky peeps?? 'sophisticated' clubbing i don't necessarily expect, but the last thing i want is beered up idiots wanting to take on the world... |
