My little brother was in hospital yesterday, and he was in one of the wards. I went in and it was good security, with all the keypads and stuff. I progressed further and went into the ward and the heat really hit me. It felt like a sauna in there! I thought no wonder people get MRSA. It was a breeding place for bugs i reckon. Other wards are really exceptional but i was surprised by this one.
Has anyone else had any concerns about the Childrens Hospital?

thats strange,my kids have been in there and it was ok,maybe the heating system s gone wrong, worth pointing out though........

Did your read about the recent report that says doctors white coats, rings, watches, cuffs and ties harbour germs. There was a recommendation that white coats and othe uniforms should be replaced by daily chages of those green garments.
Also visitors are a source of germs too.
my daughter spent a night in the childrens with suspected meningitas when she was 8 weeks old and the hospital was great. no problems with the heat and the staff was very frinedly.
i think the heat problem you experieced was down to the warm weather as i spent a morning in northern general last week when it was hotter inside than out. think they need to update thier systems
I think that that ward is going to be ripped out anyway...

I have spent several years of my life in the Childrens Hospital being treated and having various hospitals, Ive got nothing but respect for the place. If it wasnt for them I wouldnt be the person I am today.
I received top class treatment, friendly staff, extremely cleanly wards, i cant fault the place. well it may have changed since I was last year I dont know, Im too old to go there now which is a shame :(
used to work there before being a rscn/rn (child) became the registration requirement (cheers bev allit). worked for many years at the childrens, and even though it has been about 10 years since i last worked there i have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for my nursing colleagues.
it may have seemed warm due to the heat outside, but from personnal recollection it was always quite warm due to the fact that there were POORLY CHILDREN there. :D

If it wasn't for the staff @ SCH I wouldn't even be here (pneumonia @ 6 months)!
Visited regularly over the last 4-5 year (not for me, for the little uns;)).
I too, have nothing nut respect for them/it (the staff/hospital). Long may they/it keep up the good work:thumbsup:.

It's great to hear such a large proportion of replies are positive about this hospital.
Perhaps we do have some success in the NHS after all.
