Help!

I've just put an extra 512mb ram in my PC, it found it ok, on boot, but when windows started, i got the blue screen of death ...

Took the ram out.

Booted up again, only this time it looks like it's in safe mode. Only it's not. It's just 4bit 800*600 res. Looks pants.

Apparantly it can't find the monitor.

Also, in device manager, there are no (not a single one!) devices!

What should I do?

Any ideas?

If you are using Windows XP, you could try a system restore to before the problem occured. Alternatively, try the Add New Hardware wizard in the control panel

Oooops ... I turned off system restore for all HD's!

Was this a bad idea?

Also ... adding new hardware doens't work ... I'll formated the HD partition now and in the process of reinstalling XP.

I take it you have rebooted again since and you are still having probelms? boot into safemode, then reboot again and it might be ok. If not try running chkdsk /r from the recoery console. (stick your XP cd in and boot from it and select recovery console)

Might help.
