Does anyone remember this fab cake shop ---what would be now called a patisserie think it used to be down the bottom of the Moor near the Palais?

I remember the one on Rustlings Road they did lovely Battenburgs in different flavours my dad used to get them for us for Sunday Tea for a treat.

I used to work in Barclays Bank on the roundabout, bottom of Cemetery Rd. and I think there was a Fretwell Downings near there. If it were anyone's birthday, they'd nip out when we shut at 3 and bring a pile of cakes and buns in.

Fretwell Downings are still very much in existence. Catering, resteraunts, computers, administration etc.

They used to do shrewsbury biscuits and ginger snaps yum

Fretwell Downing also did the catering etc. for the Cutlers' Hall, perhaps still do.
