View Full Version : Atmosphere outside Hillsborough bang R8
CorkerSWFC 21-03-2009, 17:30 I have to say i love Hillsborough on a matchday, when its a sunny day and people are loving the weather you can't get a better ground to go to in Yorkshire, the park is spot on and outside the ground is brillaint on all sides, i know its a pain in the arse for the motorist but a good buzz for us footy fans.
Long may it continue!!!!!!!!!
Be nice to bring it into the stadium but i suppose that come's with success.

Is that the problem then, the fans are staying outside the ground in the park rather than going to the game...? :)

Easy solution - set up a big screen in Hillsborough Park and charge a fiver to watch the match there :)
Earwiggo 22-03-2009, 12:33 Wornt worth a fiver today.
Very poor, very fragmented, very frustrating.
About a quid's worth I'd say! :hihi:

typical end of season meaningless game ?
not meaningless according to your manager until its mathematically impossible for you to make the play offs
chuffinel 22-03-2009, 15:32 not meaningless according to your manager until its mathematically impossible for you to make the play offs
Thought that he said until relegation is not mathematically possible.
crookesey 23-03-2009, 12:02 What a ridiculous statement.
I was thinking that, about your statement.
they didn't do too badly on the weekend...... they didn't lose!!
chuffinel 23-03-2009, 12:07 no he said play offs
No he didn't.
From BBC website after Swansea game.
Sheffield Wednesday Brian Laws said:
"Swansea are a good footballing side, but the players worked extremely hard and I thought we were unlucky not to get a goal. We've done as good a job on them as anybody this season.
"Some of the football we played was excellent - particularly in the second half - and their goalkeeper had to pull off some great saves.
"We're probably safe but it's still mathematically possible for us to go down so we'll keep going.
"I thought Luke Varney was excellent. His movement was good and he hung in the air well."
no he said play offs
most of us wednesday fans said before the season stareted that we are nowhere near good enough for the top six and a mid table finish would be great.we are 10 points from the bottom 3 with only 6 games left- our season is more or less over -just playing out time
Crunchy Nut 23-03-2009, 13:47 Easy solution - set up a big screen in Hillsborough Park and charge a fiver to watch the match there :)

Pay the full fare and go cheer the lads on,we need support in the ground not outside it

Most Wendy fans also got giddy when you went to 5th in the table albiet for only 24 hours :hihi::hihi:
Normal service was soon resumed and basically you have been BOUNCING between 12th and 13th spot and just playing out time most of the season.
Nowhere near good enough to go up and not bad enough to go down, yet again another wasted season in Sheffield 6 :D

in our position ,with no money and a very thin squad ,a season in mid table with no relegation fight is a good season .
we arnt expected to be in the top 10
al_partridge 23-03-2009, 15:13 Nowhere near good enough to go up and not bad enough to go down, yet again another wasted season in Sheffield 6 :D
Or to put it another way, a season of steady improvement following last year's flirtation with relegation - despite still not having a pot to, er, wee in.

Exactly true , we have no cash ,but we have improved on end on last season -there are a lot of teams below us that have spent quite a bit of cash

you have also posted before that you have been to games you didn't go to .
Right... Wednesday have no money and are happy with consolidation and their two derby wins, but that's all they can aspire to at the moment. Mid-table is satisfactory (but not very good) with the derby wins. That about fair?
So if United aren't in the division next year, or if they are and Owls don't do the double again... what's the realistic minimum level next season, challenging the playoffs, mid-table or survival?
The derby wins have certainly given Laws a bit of a comfort zone (no-one in their right mind would want to get shut at the mo), but if say United do the double next year, will you all still be as understanding with an uninspiring mid-table position (he's had the team for a while now, and you've had a decent crop of kids).
For us, KB has to deliver bare minimum of playoffs, particularly after the derby results - for next season it might depend how much (if any) of the Hammers Voluntary Fund he gets to blow on players...
And back on (or near) topic - how was the atmosphere in the ground on Saturday, was there any anti-band feeling showing after all?

i didnt hear anything bad towards the band, sounds abit mixed on rs but that was always expected. i enjoyed having the band there again so if they come back permanently i wont complain. seems last season was dire i'll go with a good season. anything better than mid table would be fantastic really, even though we have been in playoffs i doubt there was many that thought we'd make it
