View Full Version : Cannabis smokers poll, do / have you smoked.
dylan_61 28-06-2005, 17:17 According to some surveys (don't ask me to name them my memorys like swiss chesse) over half the of the population smoke or have smoked weed.
Do you think this is an over of underestimation?
I would guess that 90% of the people I was at University with smoked cannabis and the figure for those who satyed in our home City wasn't far behind.
Does anyone think that smoking this now reclassified recreational drug gives them clarity of thought.
N.B. This post is purely for research and does not in anyway encourage or promote the use of any 'drug'

I remember recently the Tories abandoned a new 'hard-line' policy on cannabis when many of the shadow cabinet admitted to having smoked cannabis in the past. :D
muddycoffee 28-06-2005, 17:33 Well can you modify this to taking it rather than smoking it, because I know quite a few people who occasionally use it by digesting it in food. It is a small population who smoke and would never "smoke" anything. I'll bet there are loads of people who use it and don't smoke it..

Oliver Letwin admitted smoking cannabis through a pipe. There's nothing better than a posh Tory, it's people like Letwin that have made this such a great country.
I went to a big rock/metal festival the other week and had lots of fun... but theres no way at all did I smoke anything, nope no siree... not one drag... never :suspect:

I always thought Hitler detested smoking, unless for eugenic reasons

I can't modify the poll, sorry mate
I gace up for new Years. no more drugs, never again....
Only DOPES smoke DOPE!!!!!! Dont be so sad, GET A LIFE!!! A lot of forum members seem to think smoking dope is cool, pleasure enhancing and good for their image. Stop kidding yourself, life is beautiful and exciting enough WITHOUT having to indulge in the taking of mind altering substances.

do you smoke tobacco, drink alcohol, have sugary drinks/sweets, eat chocolate, T*ss off...? Because technically speaking all these things (if they give you pleasure) are mind altering as they will release dopamine which is what makes you enjoy them/want more.
so let the stoners do what they do best - not harm anyone (unlike alcohol abusers).
Funnily enough, a lot of the creative geniuses have dabbled in "mind altering substances". 8-O
mjlacey21 29-06-2005, 10:29 I don't understand what all the fuss is about a spilff. Alcohol is so much worse than cannabis. Stoners cause no trouble, they just want sugar.
this survey is very similar (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=701&highlight=canabis)
not to mention the medicinal propertys, was there some talk of using the drug to treat M.S. a while ago
I only know this as my step sister suffers with this condition and I came accross the info on a website whilst looking for information for her, website also said it had helped many arthritus sufferers too!

I believe a stoner at the wheel of a car could easily harm someone...............
the fonz 29-06-2005, 12:27 so do drink drivers.
I think its a common mistake to think alcohol, as a drug is any different to weed. Any issue you have with weed can equally be applied to alcohol.
Both are harmful to your body, both are a form of escapism, both are ok in moderation. To use either to an excess causes problems. Someone who smokes a few joints at the weekend is no more of a problem than someone who has a few jars.
I think we would all admit binge drinking is more of a problem then people throwing whities, as at least stoners tend to stay at home, unlike pissheads who ruin everyones night.
There needs to be a "Yes, when I was young and experimenting with anything going" option.
chickmonk 29-06-2005, 12:33 I don't think anyone is advocating driving while stoned. Neither though, would one advocate driving whilst on many LEGAL prescribed drugs.
In the main, I think cannabis is used safely by people who are perfectly entitled to do what they want with their own bodies and minds. No probs there then.
Big concern though is the increasing number of kids I see who believe that it is a great idea to be stoned out of their box all day everyday. Not good. These kids wouldn't dream of being drunk at 10 in the morning but think its fine to be stoned. Believe me, they can't function properly and this can cause all sorts of problems...
mjlacey21 29-06-2005, 12:47 Legalise it and put the age for smoking anything to 21. Stop the kids being able to get hold of it easily. Allows people to make an informed decision to smoke than be guided by peer pressure.
chickmonk 29-06-2005, 12:52 I agree. Would give adults a better forum for debate with the kids too.
mjlacey21 29-06-2005, 12:56 Tobacco is the problem as much as anything else. A lot of regular weed smokers who don't smoke cigarettes may be addicted to the tobacco, but recognising it as the symptoms of wanting a spilff because they are unaware they are addicted to nicotine.
chickmonk 29-06-2005, 13:04 Absolutely. See alot of that too...

There has been lots of research caried out into the effects of cannabis on driving, particually in Australia and Holland. A Google search will find it if you're interested.
why isn't there an option to vote "No, but I think we should have the choice".
Not that I would if it were legal, but I wouldn't want to stop anyone else. I'd rather breath second hand canabis smoke than second hand tobbaco smoke.

Legal age for normal smokes is 16, but that doesn;t stop much younger kids getting hold of them one way or another........
mjlacey21 29-06-2005, 16:12 16 is an age that is fairly difficult to determine. It's difficult to tell the age of a lot of young teens. It is also not standard for them to carry any form of ID -I seem to remember my National Insurance card being the only I had at that age. 21 is a more realistic age to ID and a harder age to fake. There are very few 16 year olds that could possibly pass for it and fewer would try if the chances of getting it were low.
