My metre set up is HUGE Its mounted on even larger backing board. There is the box that comes from outside, mounted on a board that is 12 inches wide by 18 inches high ... next to that is a tiny metre (digital) that is connected to a frame that is 14 inches high by 18 inches wide. Followed by a fuse box. I have just been getting some new kitchen units, and cannot fit the one over the meter, as it would take up almost the entire 1000mm unit. What can I do?

Have it moved. In theory you need to talk to your electricity meter supplier. I say in theory...

You have to speak to your supplier.
Our electric meter is on the wall of our garage, 9 or 10 feet off the ground(just sat in the middle of the wall:loopy:) obviously it causes problems when they come to read it/we need to read it. Some of the readers won`t even attempt to look at it, so for years it was estimated.
We asked them to move it and they quoted us a fortune to shift it. Apparantly its suppliers responsibility till it goes on your property, your responsibilty from the meter to fuse board but the bit inbetween is very complicated.
We decided to leave it where it was.
