Hi everyone!

We have just booked our wedding - its not until Spring 2011 - but I'm already looking for inspiration!

I want to have something different from a flower bouquet but don't know where to start! I like the idea of crystal bouqets but don't know where to find anything like this locally? Any ideas peeps? :)

what's a crystal bouquet? and is it heavy?

I was severely tempted to have a sword to go with my lord of the rings style dress... especially as the florist was being a right royal pain

Crikey! They are made from metal work and have Swarovski crystals on them. I've been to soo many weddings a lately and everyone seems to carry the same bouquets!

I fell in love with a crystal bouquet when I was looking round shops at the weekend but it was £140 and definitely not something I could afford or would dare to have. It was in Hull unfortunately am not sure who stocks them round here though. You could try some of the wedding shops.

I have gone for artificial ivory roses with crystals and pearls

I also wanted something different - mine is fake roses surrounded by feathers and little pearls on "fishing line"! I got it off ebay and it cost very little!

A friend of mine bought her fiance a sword as a wedding gift (they were both seriously into Dungeons and Dragons). The vicar made him leave it in the porch because it is against church law to bear arms in a church.

How about contacting SF's resident milliner and seeing if she can create something unique?

I'm thinking about having a wrist corsage - not as full on as a boquet, plus hands free!

If i had my hands free i wouldn't be able to stop figetting. Although i think a corsage would look nice.///

I went to a wedding last year where the bride carried fruit and leaves. Strawberries, raspberries and I think there were tiny oranges in there too. Very pretty.

I had a bouquet of daffodils and irises which was just simply tied in a sheaf with raffia, so that it was carried lying up my forearm and held in the crook of my elbow. This allowed me to still use my hand when needed, because I've only got one hand which works properly.

Lots of people commented that it was unusual and lovely to see riots of colour from the hundreds of daffodils we had around the room and they didn't break the bank either.

I also had a handbag made out of my wedding dress fabric, which was a Wedgwood blue colour and this had hand applique yellow flowers on it so that it would match my bouquet. I had that instead of a bouquet when we did the civil part of the ceremony- my dress was the same colour as the big flouncy dress I had for the big part too.

I am quite sure that La Bella Brides at Chapeltown are now hiring out crystal bouquets.

If you are wanting to buy and money is no object then google Halo and Co, one of my favourite suppliers!

I am having leather roses with artificial pearls. I contemplated having a mask on a wand in place of the bouquet and the veil for a while.

How about beaded crystal flowers?! I know something to carry other than flowers. But think of this they will never die you can have any colour and they will not cost a fortune.
