Aggregate Scoreline presents...
HJALTALIN
Hailing from the birthplace of modern grammar (Iceland), HJALTALIN are a 9 piece band of wistful, imaginative and extremely talented musicians. They craft intricate, beautiful melodies, at times tender but also playful.
With influences ranging from classical arrangements through to beat music of the 60s, Hjaltalin are a beguiling prospect, not to be missed.
“They are that rare thing: a band who arrive unheralded, unknown, and ensnare you instantly. Sleepdrunk Seasons sounds as if it was made for one reason only: to revel in the joy of making music.” - The Sunday Times
“A touch Arcade fire but more interesting, vocals are stunning, instrumentation is awesome. Joyous and gentle. Big colourful band to fall in love with. Soul, classical. Classoul.” – Huw Stephens, BBC Radio 1
“The Icelandic collective's UK debut is cheeky and breezy - like fresh air in London, like the sound of the morning thaw” – Plan b
BUTLER-WILLIAMSChris BUTLER and Noel WILLIAMS are two guys from Manchester who make refreshingly delicate, absorbing folk music akin to the peak of modern British folk around the turn of the 60s. The guys may be outnumbered a fair bit by Hjaltalin but they still manage to involve a wide array of instruments and playing styles. Their mid-song banter is highly amusing also.
"...head and shoulders above the millions of other singer/songwriter efforts around..."
Piccadilly Records, Manchester
