I dont know about anyone else on here, but I love Everard Daveys news bulletins in the morning. He keeps me listening until Toby comes on!

He is trouble for swearing yesterday, I didnt hear him swear, but I did hear him apologise.

I just wanted to come on here to show some support and hope any disciplinary action the BBC take will not result in him not being on any more

It's not big and it's not clever.

What did he say? Pooh? Pants? Bosoms? Enlighten us and kick this filth merchant off the air.

Incidentally, what station was this? Ohh, Mary Whitehouse would sort him out I'll tell yer.

I think I'd swear if I had as many kids as he has.

Didn't listen but only read it in the Star. This was part of Antonia's show and he was giving his thoughts on Jeremy Clarkson.

Dont listen to the station apart from Football Heaven but with any presenter mistakes can happen!!

Colin Murray swore on Radio 1 in the afternoon a month or two ago, the 's' word, and no action was taken against him since he apologised.. :loopy:

I am lead to believe it was the "W" word which rhymes with tanker when describing Jeremy Clarkson :)

Crikey, that's the worst part of Radio Sheffield.

I never thought it would be possible to fill 60 minutes of airtime with drivel about Rotherham United and Doncaster rovers...but they somehow manage it

Anyway, back to the thread. Everard Davey isn't nearly as annoying as Toby Foster.

Oh come, everyone makes mistakes. I'm a DJ myself for a hospital and i have not sworn on air, but come on. He is respected for what he does and should be given a second chance.

I would never have thought Everard would use that word on air. My respect for him has soared - I love a rebel. He's possibly spotted a gap in the market for a Roger Moffat figure. Keep it up, Evarard, and I may just start tuning in.

When I was involved in Community Radio part of my job was to wade through hours of tapes after we received complaints from teh Radio Authority about bad language on air.

There were a couple of listeners who seemed to enjoy causing trouble and would pick up on the slightest bit of bad language or even a non-radio mic of a song played late at night and report the station.

If the RA decided to get ratty, we could have ended up with a GBP 5000 fine or even be taken off the air. We had to send the section of the program where the language was reported to the RA, who would then judge whether the report was justified.

Fortunately we were never fined but picked up a couple of warnings - I think that stations today seem to be able to get away with more bad language than we did.

The general form for our station was that if someone swore on air they would apologise immediately. We had our fair share of 'cock ups' when mics were left open and the last words heard were.. "That mike's not on...****...it is!"

I once managed to play the non-radio mix of a rap song - that was entertaining. :)

I think that if the guy apologies then I don't see the problem. If he carries on using abusive language just to get a 'name' then I think that a more severe slap would be warranted. A true professional doesn't need to swear to be good at his job.

Toby Foster? He's the BEST thing that's ever happened to Radio Sheffield. I've stopped listening because he's on air when I'm at work. Bugger !!!

Yes I heard Everard swear on Monday morning and was a bit surprised at his outburst. I only listen to Radio Sheffield first thing on my clock radio and was dissappointed when Everard stopped doing the morning programme ( that Toby Foster did my head in). Whenever Antonia asks his opinion on something before he reads the news he always seems to go off on one like a Grumpy Old Man, I wonder if it's because she's got his job.

I think he should be booted straight off the air for swearing

Anyone who chooses to mutter the words "Jeremy Clarkson" live on the wireless deserves all that's coming to them.

Christ, what next? He'll be able to mutter "Cilla Black" or "jim Davison" without anyone taking it up with him.

What a C@@t!

Everard should have known better, but it's Antonia Brickell that had control at that time, and she will have also come into trouble with the RA.

I wonder were Antonia is these days ? Holiday ? She seems to come and go as she pleases, off one day, in the next, just recovering from a cold etc. If she worked for me I would have sacked her.

Perhaps she has "been asked to leave", she wasn't the sharpest tool in the box, and often offensive to other (mainly females who had done well) people she interviewed. One would be well advised to listen to what Antonia says, then do the opposite. And as for Antonia's hair, well, Clowns have been known to look more stylish.
